Hi all,

Which CD player can you recommend for the Puma? My budget is around £60-70.

Thanks,

Mark.

My mate got a Clarion unit for his Focus for £80 off ebay, 4x50 watts, with ipod and mp3 connectivity. For the money i dont think you can do much better than that, clarion are excellent. I would save avoid motorword brands like Mutant, and JVC, Pioneer and Sony. Sony are great at everything apart from car stereos i find.

My m8 as this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... yId_165474 in his MR2 sounds and works great

I'd avoid Mutant, Ripspeed and all those other "new world" makes.

Despite what Draddy says, I'd recommend Pioneer as well as Alpine, Sony and Kenwood as good units that will be a good upgrade from standard.

I have a Panasonic in mine and it's never faltered and sounds great.

This would be ok:

Avoid Mutant like it's gonna give you swine flu! :pinkeye:

It all depends on what you want out of the stereo too. I paid about £150 for my Kenwood head unit about 2 years ago, but could probably pick it up for about a third of that now. (Bleedin' depreciation...)

If you just want a CD player, you're spoilt for choice. It's the extras that will narrow your selection. I wanted a USB port on mine with iPod compatability. I also ended up with the ability to fiddle around with the settings once I (well, Dal really) had installed my amp and sub.

I have a kenwood unit in mine atm... it came with the car but Ive seen it for around £70 now....

works great :)

Make sure you get Line In, it will guarantee compatibility with any portable music player not just iPods. Times change, at one time no one could foresee Walkman being toppled.

For the record I have a Sony in mine, came prefitted. The speakers in the front doors are a bit weak, but improved with some EQ settings.

Thanks for the replies, and the useful information :)

The Pioneer one, from Dal, looks quite nice

Cheers.

...in his MR2...

I almost bought the MR2. When I was deciding, it came down to a choice of two cars - MR2 or the Puma. But I found the MR2 was a bit older, and generally had a lot more miles, so went for the Puma!

Dunno if there is anything here that is good? http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Clearance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... ec0Q2em322
