Evening All.
(Posted this on Detailing World too, but thought you guys would be interested too! Tried the Corsa C UK forum but you can only have a max of 40 imaged to a post, so they got the DW link.
You all get it properly though!
You'll be pleased to know the Puma got washed on Thursday after work (I finished at 4), so got a rinse, foam, tightwork and wash, and looks slightly better than the corsa still due to the paint condition!!
I had a chance to do some detailing today, so I jumped in the Corsa and drove to my parents.
I've been driving it to work and back alot recently, mainly because it's so much more economical than the Puma! It's been a long time since its last wash, and I've played the 'drive through every puddle' game whilst bored in the mornings!
Also, last weekend I got the heaters working, and stemmed the leaky brake cylinder seal with bathroom sealant whilst I wait for the proper stuff, so I now don't hate to so much due to it being warm at half 7 in the morning on my way to work!
The bird poo happened about 8 days ago when my girlfriend drove it to work :buffer:
I foamed the car dry to help break up the thick film of dirt. Elite Snow Foam with a few squirts of APC used
This was left to dwell for 10 mins whilst I filled the buckets, got the mitts ready and had a drink.
Rinsed off.
The last time this was cleaned was I *think* September, and finished with Poorboys Nattys Blue. Some sheeting is still evident on the sides
although not on the roof or bonnet. To be fair though, they have been resurfacing ALOT of roads on my way to work.
The wheels were cleaned with Bilberry and a small brush. Tyres were the same
Wheels now squeaky clean, I sprayed Tardis over the whole car, and Iron X on the wheels, bonnet and windscreen. I went around and did the door shuts and tightwork whist this was dwelling.
Loads of rubbish came out of the paint with the tardis
Iron X was a bit pointless on the wheels
However on this rubbish shot of the windscreen, purple streaks were everywhere :thumb:
the paintwork peering through!
I rinsed everything off thoroughly, then proceeded to wash. 2bm used with BTBM for a nice change!
Re-rinsed. There's still nattys blue under there, and it survived the tardis, apc & foam and iron X I threw at it!
I dried her off with my big fluffy drying towel, and was pleased with the results after just a good decontamination and wash (no claying today, couldn't be bothered, the clay would be too hard. Plus it didn't really need it)
I went around with a nice layer of Black Hole
Door buffed off
Bit more definition to the shine now!
I then layered up the Blacklight
Whilst the blacklight was curing, I went around and spent a long time with CG New Look Trim Gel and a mf
There's still lots of old old polish residue to get rid of, I can't seem to shift it in one session but it's fading each time I try
By this point, the light was seriously fading (quarter past 3), so I:
Buffed off the blacklight and trimgel as one
Put a nice even layer of Dodo Juice Banana Armor on the paint, plastics and rear quarterlights.
Fastglass on all other windows and mirrors
Fastglass buffed off and V7 applied to the windows
Nattys Wheel Sealant applied to alloys
Turtle Wax Nano Tyre Gel applied to the tyres
V7 applied to door shuts
Wax buffed off
Windows buffed off
Wheels buffed off.
Now I hit the dew point on the roof and bonnet, so although they buffed off ok, when they misted over it showed the 'swirl' action of when I applied the wax. I'll see how it looks tomorrow, and either QD and re-wax them or leave them be.
I drove across Marlow to a car park to catch what was left of the light for some afters. Bonnet had cleared by the heat of the engine, roof had not!
I'm going to try and resist the urge to clean her now until the spring. Maybe a rinse and foam is the salt gets too bad, but nothing major. Will hopefully bring a nice spring project!
If it's a nice day tomorrow, or raining I'll try to get some afters/beading shots!
Cheers :driver:
