Over the last couple of days my car has developed a noise when the steering wheel is turned. It is a grating or scratching noise and I fully expected the wheel hub to be catching on the plastic housing for the ignition switch and stalks. When I took the housing off the noise still persisted and seems to be coming from the point where the wheel joins the column. Has anyone had this problem and how is it best fixed?

Either take it apart and grease it.... or ignore it and let it go away itself in a couple of days.

The choice is yours.......

It is common, and not at all serious.

Have a little read of this thread:

As expatscot says, nowt to worry about - it'll probably go soon.

Thanks for your replies. That's a relief. I was a bit worried when I found that the wheel was not foiling the cowel.

I have already sprayed the area with silicone grease and I will have a further go today.

I did try and search for the subject but found nothing
