i have a sony head unit in my car, and whenever you press a button such as source it makes a beep noise. also when you turn the car off and remove the key the head unit made 3 beeps.
i recently fitting an amp powering all four speakers. since i fited the amp, the headunit no longer beeps when a button is pressed, or when the car is swtiched off.
any ideas?

I've just had a look at a generic Sony car head unit manual on line:

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4107644111.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It says:

Caution alarm
If you turn the ignition switch to the OFF position without detaching the front panel, the caution alarm will sound for a few seconds. The alarm will only sound if the built-in amplifier is used

So now you're using an external amplifier, it won't sound.

cheers thanks.
what about when the ignition is switched on and i press one fo the buttons on the headunit, it used to beep. is that function controled via the internal amp too?

I've no idea, but there might be an answer in your own manual for your radio, or that generic one I linked to.

If you haven't got a copy then you can no doubt download it here:

http://support.sony-europe.com/eve/audio/index.aspx?site=odw_en_GB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:eek:k:

EDIT: If you go to that manual I linked to originally, on page 11 there's a section on "Adjusting setup items" that includes "beep on/off" I'd imagine there's a similar setting on your Sony one.

i got beep turned on. must be something to do with now having an external amp wired in.
thanks for your help
