hi
the heater in my car basically is either blowing boiling hot or freezing cold , there is no middle ground when you adjust the controls . any ideas

It's probably the heater control valve as they fail on a regular basis. It's located on the fibre bulkhead at the back of the engine and you can see two water hoses going into it and when you take the fibre panel off you can see two hoses going out of it into the heater. Don't buy a pattern one as they are crap and will fail again quickly. STEAVIE on here sells the genuine Ford ones for £40.

Voltage test on the HCV plug before spending money.

Should be

Solid 12v for full cold
Solid 0v for full hot

Pulses of 12v/0v/12v/0v for anywhere in between the width of which dictates the proportion of hot water which is allowed in.

If the voltage test fails you need a panel. If it passes you need a valve. Sounds very much like the panel if you can get both hot and cold but not reliable regulate the temp.
