So how do I do this then?!
Or can I not do this on my car?

Have you got the standard 6000 series Ford stereo or an aftermarket one with either Aux-in, USB-in or a dedicated iPod dock connector lead thingy?

I'm sure someone's hooked up an iPod/iPhone to the standard head unit with some kind of adaptor off eBay. I just went and got a head unit with bluetooth - no cables required!

I've got the standard stereo, surely there must be a cheaper way of doing it other than having this?!

I had this in my old Puma and FRP - it allowed you to play an iPod through the standard stereo. The adapter acts as a virtual CD changer (it plugs into the Changer slot). It was pretty good, even if it did get bashed every time a passenger got in the car! I did try it briefly with my old iPhone, and I *think* it worked.

I'm not sure if they are available any more though - I bought mine back in 2007. It was about £115 IIRC.

Would the best thing to do is get an after market head unit with a usb port on it?!

:-D

Make sure you get the proper Ford fascia adaptor (FINIS 1143361 - around £15) - the cheapie ones off eBay aren't normally any good in terms of colour / fit / quality etc.

I've got a Sony BT5700U in mine that sits nicely in the Ford adaptor and gives me all that USB / Bluetooth goodness:

Some of the fancier ones are a bit too sticky-outy (your Alpines etc).

Oooo me likey :D
And i'm guessing yours is a newer type puma as it has extra paddly bits on the steering wheel and your clock reads tempreature too :D

Something like this!?

It is a later Puma, but they're mods - the paddly bits are from a Focus and temp clock is from a Fiesta Ghia X - AFAIK the Puma never came with these as standard.

Other mods include - glovebox light, dual boot lights and 'submarine' reading light also out of a Focus:

I'm a bit of an audio snob, so I'd probably turn my nose up at that - I reckon there is a danger it may actually sound worse than the standard unit (which isn't that bad, really, for a 10+ year old stereo).

Halfords have got the newer version of mine discounted from £240 to £90 if you can stretch to that - I can vouch for it working well via USB and Bluetooth with an iPhone:

I just wanna find a dead cheap head unit with usb port for now :/
All my decent music is on my Iphone :(

I reckon that any head unit costing less than around £100 is going to sound worse than using an FM transmitter over the standard stereo. You can pick them up for only £25 in the short term as mentioned above:

The standard Ford CD player used to retail for several hundred quid when it was new!!
