Took a better picture of the Fiesta if anyone is interested, being slightly related and all that.

Understatement of the decade!!

fezza looks nice, I have a Ghia version great little cars

I was overly cautious with that statement  On the ZS forum they see the Puma as nothing more than an engine donor, so wasn't sure if there was much hate going on. As you can see, I'm a big fan of both cars. The Fiesta is much more of a boy racer hatch. I try to drive both back to back and I really cannot separate them for fun factor, both brilliant.

Now its all mechanically sorted I'm changing the tyres for something more suitable for my driving, later this afternoon I am having 4 Goodyear Efficentgrip Performance fitted, A rated in the wet, been getting very good reviews too, should transform the drive, will also get the wheel alignment checked at the same time.

I recently won a Panther Black bonnet on ebay for 99p! My original is badly chipped, has a slightly dodgy previous filler repair on one side, and the lacquer keeps dropping its gloss after I've machine polished it, by getting a black one it saves painting the underside. This bonnet is very good, only had a small dent on the leading edge which I've filled, stripped the front end back to metal as the chipping there had caused slightly corrosion but the rest just had very minor chips, so just stoppered these in, should get it painted next week.

Tyres now on, what a difference, its so quiet!

They felt quite a bit lighter when compared to the P6000 that was on there. Still need to scrub them in but roundabout test passed with no sqeaual and held its line tightly where as before, pushing it at moderate speeds in the dry would provoke oversteer without lifting off!

My desire to lower the car with Eibach's will become reality as I won a brand new kit on ebay for £41 ! So it should sit much better and tighten the handling a little without affecting the ride.

And a sneak preview after clearcoat and a quick polish. Will get a better picture when all done, if anyone is interested.

Pictures! I love em. Looks really good on that sneak preview picture.
My bonnet is also full of stone chips. Too bad I can't find a Puma bonnet easily here in The Netherlands and shipping costs way too much (I reckon) :'(

Ah, someone noticed

The bonnet is now finished, polished and fitted to the car.

Spent some time this evening flatting with 2000 and a soft block, then 3m 3000 Trizact, 3M Fast cut plus and then 3M 80349 yellow top, lovely deep shine.

We always notice!

Pictures are always good and that bonnet looks superb! Just makes me really jealous that I'm crud at painting!

Don't think about what you think others would like to see. It's your project thread so post up everything you do!

I've done a minor ICE upgrade. Vibe Slick6 (6.5in) for the front and Vibe SLick69's for the rear bins. Rear bins needed some trimming and sealing , front doors needed a few more trimmed off the diameter of the original hole but plenty of depth available for these, totally transformed the sound quality and bass, in fact good enough to not need a sub! Speakers were £80 quid for all 4, head unit is a basic Pioneer DEH1300 that does the job for now. I only needed something for my Ipod to plug into and it does that just fine and goes loud enough without distorting.

Great job mate!

would like to upgrade the speakers in mine as the standard ones are poo (or just knackered!) but really don't want to add a sub so might take a look at these!

Don't get me wrong nothing will replace a sub but for a more fuller sound this is a good compromise. It only stands me in at £130 quid for the head unit and speakers, and I got £50 back for the old head unit too, so £80 quid if you like!

I've now fitted the Eibachs, needs some miles to help them settle as with all subtle drops but the turn in and reduced understeer is already noticeable and the ride seems virtually the same too. Very productive day!

The engine cover was looking a bit untidy so before I refitted it after the gasket was done, I gave it a clean up, flatted down and repaint in Ford Stardust silver and a couple of coats of 2k clear, now needs the inlet manifold cleaning up to match!

Sideish shot now the springs have settled, its definitely lower and handles more precisely although it wasn't exactly bad before.

I've also fitted some 4300k HID's, yet to drive with them but you can tell a massive difference already.

The final oil leak has been fixed. It was the end case on the gearbox which was slightly knocked when I did the clutch change, there was no damage as such, just the fact it had been disturbed caused it to leak and make a right stinky mess on the driveway.

Next on my to do list is sort out a remap. Superchips won't remove the torque limiter in first but I know a Bluefin will make a world of difference like it did to my Fiesta so will wait till they do an autumn offer with 20% before I buy one, and then get them to send me a more advanced super unleaded map to maximise gains. I'm also considering getting 4-1/4-2-1 exhaust manifold with a sports cat and remove the middle box to help performance as I know the manifolds are pretty restrictive.

Been a while since I updated, and there has been a big change! I no longer have it! But it's in good hands, my father now owns the car and he is thoroughly enjoying it as much as I did. Reason for moving on? The urge to modify was getting too great, and it was very well sorted as it was.

The other half wanted a newer car, and I wanted to tweak the Mk5 ZS (Puma lump etc) so offered the car to my dad for a nominal fee, so we know have two ZS's!

So the hunt is on for a donor lump and playing about with the Mk5. The Mk7 Fiesta ZS is a cracking car too.
