This is my second Puma (actually my wife's, but I do all the work). We were trying to find a cheap one to save and restore. We plan to keep this car as standard but get it back to a fairly decent level. We will use this as a daily allowing me to get my silver puma to a better standard.

Its a Puma Black series, built in late 2000 with no mods. It had done 126,000 miles when we picked it up.

The car need a fair amount of work the main points are:

  • Expansion tank level keeps dropping (spare water bottle in boot, along with a rubbish heap and the spare wheel).
    Suspension knocks
Oil off dipstick (put some in on site to get the 100 odd miles home)
    Engine light up
    ABS & TC light up
    Holes in rear of sills
Grinding noise coming from aux belt area

The car had no service history and the bodywork looked like it had been cleaned with scotchbrite and both mirrors were hanging off.
He wanted £900 but I knocked it down to £500.
Had road tax and somehow miraculously an MOT.
A complete shed, but I was finding it hard to locate a Puma Black edition at the time (one she wanted) and on the plus side the interior leather was in good condition.

When we went to pic it up from London:

lol all good fun saving another puma from the scrappy. needless to say been running this little car for nearley a year now with next to no problems. more updates to follow tomorrow.

From experience, I would never buy a puma that doesn't have any oil in it. I'd set aside some money for a new engine, because if there's one thing that kills Puma engines, is letting it run out of oil.

Its the car that turned up at Rockingham Cherie. I bought it with an engine change in mind but it just keeps plodding on

Here's a few more pics when we got it home last June....

Blimey - you've cleaned that up nice, Rich! Amazing work, sir! If I had a hat, it would be tipped in your direction. In fact I might buy one so I can do just that.

Thanks lol, wait till the next update, Pippa might make a cameo! lol

Cars not looking so good at the moment had a run in with a cat at the end of last year and smashed the bumper :-( and the poor cat didnt come off to well either :-( :-(

Crikey, that's some hard graft gone in to that so far. That paintwork after the clay and polish is the nuts...!
