Is it correct that a 2.0 mondeo throttle body will fit on the puma? if so what year car does it need to be from?

Hi Jay.
The 2.0l Mondeo throttle body does indeed fit the Puma. (with minor mods) Some tuners swear by it.

The model you need is from the "silver top" zetec (2.0) which was fitted to the Mk1 and very early Mk2s. (Definitely not mk3)

These are getting rare. There was one on flea-bay just recently for £35! even 2.0l mondeos are getting rare.
plus its also a mod for the 1.8 zetec. So the escort boys hoover them up!

I am after one myself...

hello, might be a stupid question but if don't ask you don't know.
is it only mondeo ones that fit or can you focus throttle body too?

I have found this and didn't know if that would work?

U want a silver (metal one) from a mk1/2, don't buy a mk3 one as it won't work or any blacktops. Best 2.0l modeo to get ur hands on is apparently the 136PS si model. Thats the one iv got anyway, not worth getting it ported and knive edged unless you get the inlet ported to match. (Something iv not got round to yet).

Possibly even rarer but MK3 RS1800 Fiestas and 130PS MK5 Escort Cabbies and possibly SI's should have the same throttle body on as well. From memory the venturi is about 55mm whereas on the 115PS engine it's about 45mm

I have a few old TB's in the garage and have been thinking about this. When I had my 1.8 2i I put a MK1 Mondeo lump in there. It was a 60k auto converted to manual. I had a different ECU with a Superchip, Escort GTI (or was it RS2000?) inlet, 2L TB which was knife edged etc and a nice big cone, only due to the fact that I couldn't use the same airbox. That baby flew, upset a lot of people. The exhaust was sorted as well, the backbox on it when I sold it was a HAIKI, which I had never heard of, but it was such a mental growling thing. Only thing is, when I had my missus and her kids in the car we couldn't hear each other lmao

I will be getting another backbox on Thursday exactly the same as that, plus putting the 2L TB on as well at some point.

Happy days

It bolts straight on and your airbox feed should slot straight on. even the plug is the same.

The only mod you need to do is to "open up" the hole on the inlet manifold,
preferably to match the new T.B. as its a bigger bore.

Using a die grinder with a tool like this in it
(a electric drill will do, just slower/wrecks the drill)

Sounds like a great exhaust! I think I need to get one!! lol :p

what is it about the plastic blacktop versions that mean they wont work? ive trial fitted a blacktop throttle body to the puma inlet and its bolts on fine, although i forget whether or not the ISCV ports line up now. the plastic ones use an O ring seal on the intake pipe which could require some creativity, and its a different plug, but other than that?

ive fitted a 2.5 V6 mondeo throttle body to my spare inlet. its far from a direct fit, but the O/D of the intake side matches the pipework ill be fitting with my new intercooler so was ideal for me. needed to drill a new hole in the throttle body, then drill and tap a new hole in the inlet, ive made a new throttle cable bracket and will need to swap plugs, then open up the inlet to match. alot of work but suited my application so whatever.
