the beige box, not sure, mine didnt have that, which would lead me to believe its either air con, or passengar airbag, if yours originally had either of those
Outlined on the right is the wire for the ignition barrel - one end is chunky like the unknown one and one end is round right? Outlined on the left are the two wiring connectors I am puzzled by. I've carefully censored my new seat, steering wheel & pedals but didn't mind showing everybody my smooth white nob :lol:

Small update - yet the only one I'm likely to make for a few weeks - my biggest uni deadline is less than 3 weeks away and I'm rather behind :-(.

I had a quick read of that but was too tired to find any answers. I'm sure there'll be plenty of differences from a transit from '06 onwards and my early Puma. I'm simply going to keep the mysterious box and its wiring until I can start the engine again. That way I can disconnect it and, if everything I need still functions; I'll strip the loom back some more :cool:.

The connector with 3 wires is gone - it didn't seem to have been connected to anything that I had removed. The chunky one I have left and will treat the same way as the beige box - If everything works with nothing plugged in then it's going in the bin.

After kneeling in discomfort inside the car for a while I sat in one of my bucket seats for a rest. I actually got all excited as I get slightly closer to being able to drive it. They fit like a glove! I won't show you them yet but you will see a couple of new bits below...
 
Stage 1 (Nov '11 - Apr '12)

(c) - Strip out interior completely and weigh each group of parts individually (started)
Many people on here have done this and there's nothing really new here; but it's my project and my progress - so it's in here for completion. I still have to convert to plastic windows, complete my aircon removal, remove excess metalwork (door inners & brackets etc.) and possibly visit the brake system (ABS removal?). Finishing the wiring loom properly and touching up any paint will fall into the re-comissioning onto the road at a later date. A full breakdown of the weight savings will be added once I've finished (stage 1 (c)). 800-850kg Puma here we come :grin::

How it used to look when I used it daily - complete with junk in the glove box and heavy lock.

A short while later - lots of dirt, wiring, and sound deadening is revealed. Dashboard is next.

Cheap heat gun with included scraper make this job a lot more bearable. Mask helped with smell.

At this stage, if like me you hate electrics; try not to :cry: - until you see rusty holes at least.

Once the seats are fitted I may have to lower the steering column a touch. We shall see soon...ish...
 
Hi again everybody!

Since my last post (over four months ago! :eek: ) I have been quite ill and had to stop attending university. I have been trying to keep myself busy - I was dragged down into the world of building, overclocking and testing computers (don't do it!) but kept slightly sane helping one brother renovate his new house and another brother buy and fix up a 3.0L Volvo 960 estate (which is an awesome bargain of a barge!). I definitely haven't been busy enough with my car. My original timescales on my 'master' plan were kind of forced out of the window and I basically haven't touched it since my last post.

I was on my way for an assessment for a job with my brother (in said luxury barge :) ) in Oxford a couple of weeks ago. Just by chance I picked up the latest issue of PPC magazine. To my horror they have moved the event from September to the end of this month - Friday the 29th of June!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Now since then I have tried to order parts and do small jobs on the car but was doing some handy man work so have a long way to go still. As it stands, with 1 week to go, I need to:
-Source a Fiesta drive belt tensioner (can't find a used one anywhere)
-Source a Non-PAS lower steering column joint
-Source a Puma (or similar) throttle position sensor connector with some of the loom attached
-Source some Puma (or similar) vacuum lines from the inlet to the brake servo (cut for ITBs)
-Source steel, bolts, nuts and washers to fit my bucket seats and harnesses
-Clean the inlet manifold and rebuild with new gaskets and fit (after re-fitting the alternator)
-Remove the complete PAS system and convert to manual steering (had the rack ready a while)
-Remove the old belt tensioner and fit the Fiesta item; along with the new auxiliary belt
-Flush the engine out, re-fit the radiator, and fill with new coolant, new oil and fit new filters
-Remove rust in floor, patch holes and paint roughly the same colour (real paint isn't cheap!)
-Check brake pads and fit new discs (after all - the car hasn't moved since November)
-Charge the battery, make and paint seat/harness mounts and fit - checking for driving position
-Fit new fuel filter, start engine and check final electrics then wrap loom in proper loom tape
-Fit new wiper blades, fill any holes with grommets, sealant etc and clean inside & out
-Book place at event and get car to garage for MOT. If it fails cry. If not then tax & insure it
-Test the car and how it drives - might have to then chop the coils as a desperate temp. fix...

As you can see, it's a very tall order when you consider I don't even have a few of the last parts. I'll try to give a daily update so you can all feel free to shout abuse/encouragement/suggestions at me. Fingers crossed I'll make it and next weekend I'll share some results and photos/videos. :shock:
 
Well after two disappointingly unproductive days I'm too tired and hungry to post anything useful. I'm just going to start putting lines through what I've done and underline what I've started in the list above. I've got one stuck bolt and one slightly rounded nut - so tomorrow morning I may have to resort to bolt cutters and my welder :'(
 
your doing a great job on your puma im also looking at putting suzuki GSXR 1000 main fuel injectors throttle bodies on mine
i have priced it up from ebay and some other sites and think its going to cost me about £376.58 just for the throttle body set up. look on my page for more info. just hope mine will be as good as yours. what BHP are you getting? and do you have a 4-2-1 manifold as that will be next after throttle bodys.
