Hi,
I'd taken a break from the world of interesting cars recently after a long string of fun stuff - alfa sprint, gtv, x1/9, lancia beta vx, jaguar xjs and so on, and bought a focus tdci which was soul destroying. Then the turbo went and wasnt worth fixing so it was slow and soul destroying. Then after 40000 miles of slowness the dual mass flywheel finally destroyed the starter and off it went to the scrapyard.

Which left me looking for a car. I'd had a puma in mind for when the focus died, and luckily I found one for sale within walking distance. T reg... melina blue, clearly had been sat a while but mechanically sound, tidy bodywork, full mot and none of the usual rear arch issues. I looked at the flourishing mould on the back seat, contemplated the alternatives (endless leggy french hatchbacks), took a deep breath and offered a lot less than the asking price.

Evidently I didn't ask for enough off because the dealer practically bit my hand off. a thorough interior clean later and a cambelt change I now have a fairly nice puma.

On the to do list are

- Give it a thorough exterior clean!
- Replace a missing towing eye cover in the rear bumper, got one - just need to paint it the right colour
- Repaint the alloy wheel centers as some are doing the common flaky paint issue
- Heater control valve
- Replace the missing puma badge on the centre console
- Remove an old induction mobile phone antenna
- Keep an eye out for a replacement drivers seat (worn bolster)
- Passenger side seat trim

Still, its already done me a good 1600 miles in less than a month so alls well!

Anyway, the question I've registered to ask - whats the paint code on the standard blade alloys on the 1.7? as pictured

Pics to follow of the car once the cleaning has been done!

Cheers for the tip on the wheel colours - gave it a bit of a clean today, an in depth look at it has revealed a few little scratches here and there, but theyve all been carefully touched in with the right colour. This combined with the extensive (albeit sans cambelt) history file makes me think this cars been pretty well looked after.

10 minutes careful work with a glass scraper, some thinners and a bit of wd40 got rid of the mobile antenna, and hopefully with it some wind noise at speed. Despite the inclement weather I decided to press on with painting the towing eye cover, which looks to have turned out pretty well considering it was done in the open, cold, foggy conditions of a january morning. I figured ill still have loads of paint left over so can do it again in better weather if need be. Lacquer is still hardening so its not on the car yet.

Tailored mats, heater control valve and some sill covers are on the way via ebay.. sparkle silver to be picked up to have a go at the wheels hopefully sometime in the week!

also reminded myself of a few more jobs to do on the car.. the centre console badge is not the vct one available on pumabuild - can these be had anywhere? got to check the fusebox as half the heated windscreen is not working.. of course I'll have to find the fusebox first. havent looked for it yet.

The VCT badge was only fitted to the first 1500 Pumas very rare things indeed. Generally half a heated screen means a bad earth on the A posts, faulty wiring or the screens had it

So does this make mine a rare beasty? Mine was registered Jan 97 and has a VCT badge.
She has also only cover 46000 miles ( all documented) over this time aswell.
