I've got a bit of an annoying niggle. The car is silky smooth and very reliable, but when I try to accelerate hard I'm getting an annoying hiccupping/stuttering. I can also feel the car pulling back slightly. However, it seems all I have to do is jab on the accelerator a bit and it stops. It then accelerates smoothly again. It also seems to stop if I've been on longer trips and not just driving locally (approx. 5 miles). I've been told that it sounds like the carbs and that it's a normal thing for them to muck about like this?

 Well it won't be carbs since it doesn't have any.

As Chris says, I'd first check the fault codes, could be a multitude of things, worn leads / coil / lambda / spark plugs / MAF etc

my experience is that its the coil pack or plugs...mine is doing the same now and has just turned into a proper misfire now...but my engine is a tad different to yours...
