If using fuel pipe instead of the plastic pipes and the so called "Easy disconnect" connectors, make sure you use decent quality E10 compatible pipe and I would recommend using proper fuel pipe clips, not Jubilee clips.
A friend with a Puma which had rubber fuel pipe fitted, had a fuel leak due to the hose leaking, possibly not E10 ethanol proof.
yeah. fuel hoses are not the thing to skimp on. i'll have a look at the clamps. do you have an example? the plastic hoses are starting to get brittle. had one in the engine bay give up. so time to change the rest.
mainly the quick connects on the fuel filter. they just get stuck. the ones connecting to the fuel pump will stay but new hoses.

These are the clips I've used, I decided on stainless one, as the filter obviously gets a lot of water, so could rust and be difficult to remove in the future.

thanks for the tip regarding model of clips. i always use stainless and a little dob of grease on the threads so they don't stick

just ordered 2 rear beam mounts from the scrapyard from a fiesta. (same finis) hope they are in better condition.

also ordered some new braided brake hoses. the old ones have been living a hard life and the outer protection is a bit scuffed.

now. out again to see if the paint have dried and paint the brake shield thingies

I'm planning on upgrading to stainless brake hoses next year, as well as fitting the larger later discs, pads, calipers and rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, all as preventative maintenance, as the car has done over 100k miles and is 25 years old.

Update:

2024-10-19 17.10.15.jpg
rear drums are starting to look like brakes again. still waiting for the rear axle spacers.

2024-10-19 17.10.50.jpg
grinding away rust and some rust converter. dry overnight

2024-10-19 17.11.19.jpg
more underbody spray on parts that will be hard to reach when tank and axle is in place again.
Look some new metal below the beam too! other

and started cutting in the sill a bit
2024-10-19 17.11.39.jpg
new metal. had to start with the pieces next to the axle mount. Not pretty but alot stronger than rust. the bits sticking down are made a bit too long. i'll just cut them off at the right height when the outer sills are welded.

now i'm mainly waiting on stuff to dry and are 3d-printing some guides to push in the new rear beam rubber bushings.

image_2024-10-19_174016250.png
see if they can withstand pushing in the bushings

got a couple of axle mounts from a fiesta that where in great condition metal wise, refurbished them and they are ready to go!
also some new abs sensors (escort model with straight cables)
new braided brake hoses. the old ones where starting to look a bit old so better change them before something goes bad.

just waiting for the new spacers and the rear axle should be complete.

Started replacing bits of metal on the left side too. just to make the rear end of the car as ready as it can before mounting rear axle, tank, exhaust and such.
