Hi Jim
That's a massive rip off as it's the easiest part of the conversion to do!

I was only looking at paying £45 ish for the pair. No was on this earth I'll be paying £85. They're just trying it on.

I guess you all know what this is. I don't know the name in English, we call them spies (why don't ask me). 0,6 mm is the one we are after!

Makes more sense than tap.

In English - feeler guage.

Dear All good evening,
The thing is I want to set rear disc brakes to my Puma. I'm very sure the specific modification is absolutely an improvement project regarding the car's braking behavior and not cosmetic improvement. But since the entire project is not reversal in case of faulty function, I've carefully red the entire post many times despite of I've already bought a complete rear disc brakes set from a Focus 1.6cc 2001 model. However recently in a website which distributing parts all over Europe, I noticed that the ABS tone ring and the ABS rear wires among Ford Puma mk1 and Ford Escort mk6 2.0 station wagon but also the 1.8 hatchback are the same. (They had the same part No). I guess that it's not something new for you but allow me to share with you my thought. If the wires and the tone ring are the same, then why not to use the complete Escort's rear disc brakes set? And more over the entire rear axle of Escort's have the same structure like Puma's. So practically seems to be a safe and without machinery risk modification.
First thank you in advance fore your reply, and second in case you have anything to share with me avoiding any issues in that project, would be highly appreciated.

I am also looking to convert my rear brakes on my track puma and have been reading through Wild E. Coyotes guide as well as Paulz and I’m rather daunted by the idea of irreversibly machining parts. I am not particularly mechanically savvy and have only had the car for a couple years with minimal mods made to it while I’ve been at at uni. I noticed Paulz offered to do the whole process for people for a fee but he doesn’t look active anymore, would anyone be willing to do it for a fee?

I did not understand if necessary to replace the ABS sensors or if you can use those of the Puma and regarding the handbrake cable I would need to know if that of the Focus MK1 is fully compatible on the PUMA. Thanks in advance

These are the parts I used when doing my rear disc conversion.

•Splash shields lh - 1138516 rh -1138517
•Fiesta st150 rear discs 1780880
•Mk1 Focus rear calipers lh - 1478337 rh- 1478419
•Fiesta st150 caliper carriers 1075557

Ok but i'm not sure that the focus mk1 handbrake is compatible.

That's the same as what I used except my spindles were st150 although like you said I think they're both the same. I did have an issue with the handbrake brackets catching on the axle as I have 20mm beam spacers fitted but otherwise there was no issues

That's where the MK1 focus calipers come into effect, the fiesta st150 calipers handbrake actuator arm is in a awkward position that fouls the rear axle where as the MK1 focus calipers fit without modification. Initially ran 20mm axle spacers dut dropped down to 10mm as the wheels stuck out a bit too much. The rear disc setup pushes the wheels out and extra 12mm over the drum setup.

I didn't realise that otherwise I would have gone for the Focus calipers. I have an frp bodykit on mine so the 20mm spacers aren't an issue

Questi sono i pezzi che ho utilizzato per convertire il disco posteriore.

•Mozzi Fiesta st150 1479524
•Fustini Focus st170 (credo siano gli stessi per st150) lh - 1138520 rh - 1142082
•Paraschizzi sx - 1138516 dx -1138517
•Dischi posteriori Fiesta st150 1780880
•Pinze posteriori Focus Mk1 sx - 1478337 dx - 1478419
•Supporti pinza Fiesta st150 1075557
•Kit cuscinetto ruota posteriore Fiesta st150 1201568
•Pastiglie freno posteriori Fiesta st150 1075565
•Cavi freno a mano Fiesta st150 1335046
•Tubi freno anteriori intrecciati Puma da hel
•Anelli Puma ABS 7314843
• Cablaggio e sensori ABS posteriori Mk6 Escort Estate 1011582
Quindi i tubi dei freni anteriori possono essere montati su quelli posteriori con le pinze della Focus MK1?

Yes uses the same fittings, the HEL braided front brake line is slightly longer than the standard rubber hose which turns out to be just the right length from the rear disc conversion.

quindi i tubi dei freni anteriori possono essere montati anche su quelli posteriori per la conversione a disco?
