Not sure if this is the ideal section for this however im not happy with how high the seats are in the puma and im not a fan of the seats in general... im looking into getting myself some bucket seats for it but i wondered what seat rails people tend to use as i'd like lower ones preferably.

Help would be appreciated !!

Nobody ?

Basically i used to have a honda civic and you were able to get buddyclub super low seat rails... is there anything like this for the puma ?

I'm sure if you look around at some other Ford models you'll be able to find something to suit.Mind you I'm 6ft 4 and don't have any problems with the seat height

It's not a case of being too close to the roof for my head I would just prefer a lower seating position, feels like I'm driving van sometimes, it's going to be used for track use more than anything so I would prefer to be lower down.

I have the Racing Ka seats in mine, they are a straight fit bar some top hat mounts for the rear bolts. Seating postion mirrors the FRP I had as the seats are the same only with grey inserts instead of blue. Some on here have used modified rails and other fast ford seats from various cars especially 90s spec fiesta RS's etc

Makes all the difference with better thigh support and lower stance.

As Melina says, there are loads of options. I had 90,s spec Recaros in mine but have recently changed to later ones without the adjustable thigh support as they were in better condition. They transform the driving position. All that's needed is some Fiesta Mk3.5 seat rails and they bolt straight in. Relatively cheap as well, my current seats cost the grand total of £50 and took about 20 mins to fit!

I need some too lower position too, I'm 6' but with a helmet on its practically on the roof.

I would be looking at bolt in options to, will investigate sport Ka seats....

Be aware fixed bucket seats may well be an mot fail as of next year, thats if you are planning on keeping it on the road

Thanks guys, ill go and look at getting some mk3.5 seat rails soon then, and i agree shimmyhill im 2" off the roof before i get a helmet on.

Fixed buckets wont make a difference its only a twenty minute job changing seats...what im going to do about having a decat exhaust is more of an issue...

Could you tell (if not measure) how much lower the Sparco Torinos are than the standard seats or Recaros?

Is your car pre-99 or post-99?

Hi,

I had pre-99 standards and now (new car) post-99 Recaros, still high. Following similar comments I bought '92 Escort RS2000 Recaros but even though I haven't tried to fit them, I measured the exact same height as the Puma Recaros.

Which of the seats you had had the lowest stance and by how much (if you remember)?

Thx!

Just to add my two pennis here. I had recaros in my car and they are comfy OK. If covered in leather, though, they don't hold you at all as you are sliding in them all the time.

Now have sparcos and can tell you they are not uncomfortable at all, it is just getting into them is an exercise in itself, but that is why they hold you so nicely in corners.

And they are just as high or as low as recaros. But again, their runners are very easy to reproduce at lower height if needed

The car is 2001.

i had to cut and weld the front seat/ floor crossmember to allow my bucket seat to sit central and not to close to the door.

I bought a complete interior for my puma and i cut the mounting brackets of the front seat runners then i got a few lengths of metal and bolted the mounts to the metal then bolted the seats to it.
