if anyone has seen world touring cars then they will know the look I am going for.

a single wiper blade that sits bolt upright in the middle of the windscreen.

anyone got one or done one on a puma before and whats the law with these?

ooo thank you! .... bit pricey for what it is.... I thought it would need a new motor.

hmmm possibly custom job...

they reckon you can set the blade where ever you like... id like to see how this is possible with a standard motor.. surely it just washes one side.

anyone got one of these I could have a look at in real life to take some measurements?

the linkage is designed in such away that it goes across the screen and then back using the standard motor, and it would be better used with the washers near to the blade as possible,if you want some washer jets that do the job, have a look at some of the iveco vans they have 3 separate jets that you can adjust to spray where you want :eek:k:

law is they have to parked on the passenger side. anywhere else is illegal and an mot fail. i had one on my old escort mk6 gti

So what about new cars such as some Seat cars that have them parked vertically next to the A pillar?

I'm struggling here.

If you are using a puma on the road, unless you double the speed of the wiper then reducing it to one wiper blade will inevitably reduce the cleared area of the screen.

Unless you are planning on purely straight-line motoring, this then reduces the speed at which you can drive safely in rain, particularly if we are thinking about left-hand corners.

So why do it?

I suppose we could be headed back for my old hobby horse of 'Why increase the drag by putting a pointless spoiler on the boot?'. But I remain to be convinced that the reduction in drag from 2 x wipers parked horizontally v 1 x wiper parked vertically is anywhere close to the losses incurred by sticking a plastic wing on the boot

I think this is wanted for a purely cosmetic reason i.e a central wiper. Drag reduction isn't the thing he's looking for I'm guessing. Also, the wiper motor wouldn't need to be speeded up as it would still do one sweep in the exact same time as before but would probably need modifying so that it did a 180 degree sweep instead of the standard 90-100 degree sweep, which in essence would make the outer tip of the blade move nearly twice as quick - does that make sense...lol. As you say the actual sweep of one blade would not clean as much area as 2 would unless you got one of them weird telescopic wiper systems that I've seen on some cars.

you have to replace the linkage underneath with a modified version, Storm single wipers, which i think is the biggest maker of these, is/was based just down the road from me, was some lad that fabricated the linkages from the garage next to his house lol, think he made a killing outof it, had one fitted to a corsa years ago.

wouldnt bother now though

the ebay one is cheaper than the one i was looking at a while ago they want just over £100 for the kit. In my opion single wiper conversions do look good but every one else has their own tastes etc. If you find anyway of doing this mate let me know id be interested in it for my car
