I would imagine you will have to remove the trim inside the tailgate to tighten the brake light, which will likely entail having to replace the parcel shelf hooks with new ones.

Someone replaced the hooks on mine with allen headed bolts just bought some new hooks off ebay £4 delivered.

It is possible to invert the mirror so that it sits higher on the screen, though now the 'dipping lever' is on top, not below.
From memory it doesn't help a great deal as your view behind the car is then restricted and you can't see the police car a few hundred yards back.
