Yeah I've read about it in someone else's thread previously! :(
At what time did the rear beam types change over to this newer, wider revision?

Does the rear disc conversion offer even more width than the newer type rear beam?

Determined to get it flush somehow! :p

PS: I'm not sure if it's just a change in driving conditions but since fitting the spacers, I don't think the car responds to lift off oversteer as much as it used to (few tight roundabouts on my way into work & I can usually feel it flick a little if I'm feeling adventurous).
Interpret that as either a plus or a negative, depending on how want to look at it.

They should kill or help stop lift off oversteer, i fitted some 12.5mm to my little fez a few weeks ago. Before it was very back happy and now it turns in perfectly but still some play if you flick it out.

dude i jut sold a polybushed newer beam for 30 quid. lol you should have said id have even brought it to ya to come look over the motor :(

Cheers for that Flash!

Been filtering through some old threads for solid info on the rear disc conversion and stumbled accross this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Focus-Hatch-Complete-Rear-Beam-Disc-ABS-98-05-/280556936749?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41527f1e2d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From what I understand, with a few other bits and pieces that should go on fairly straight forward?

I've knocked up a PDF from various posts on the forum detailing what is needed, will upload that shortly as well.

PS: Clarkie... GRRRRRRRRR!

I have got a genuine FRP rear beam in my Yellow FRP (from #75) and ET25 8Jx16 Escort Cosworth wheels and they look fine, if a tad small in diameter!

by the way, there is a set of mint Racing Ka Sparco seats on eBay! I have a set of Sparco seats exactly the same as the Ford Racing Puma/Ka seats but they are all black.

There is a modification guide stickied on one of the sections, where I provided some info on rear disc conversions, there was also a more detailed article in the Wiki on pumapeople. Have a read, then you want to know anything else, just ask. I did it on mine, but only really for cosmetic purposes.

unbolt the hub etc from focus suspension, bolt it onto puma, use st150 handbrake cable apparently, make some braided hoses....

abs is an issue but think flash sorted in in the above guide...

Jacko & Flash
Cheers for that, I found most of the info in a previous thread and then knocked it into a PDF guide, basically chopped through all of the posts to make it clearer for future reference!
Rear Beam Conversion PDF

Ford Racing seatbelt covers arrived this morning, got those on and will grab a piccy or two in the morning, nicely made as well, anything to brighten up the drab interior!
eBay linky to Ford Racing belt covers

Just waiting for my boot switch to arrive and then I'll get on with wiring that up!

Couple more updates from this week! :p

Rear bench had some pretty bad rust spots on it for some reason, paint chipped and then moisture must have got underneath it.
Rubbed it all down and wire brushed it all, laid down a coat of rust converter on it and let it do it's work.

Needs rubbing down and primer spraying now, should be finished by the weekend!

Had a spare dash airbag cover in the shed so got that trimmed in the same fabric as the A pillars.

Snapped a nice pic of the carbon vinyl whilst the sun was out as well.

Suspension overhaul coming in the next week or so. :p

Heh thanks peeps! :)

Got my rear right bearing fixed (well, kinda) earlier this afternoon and also gave the rear brakes another coat of paint whilst I had the wheel off.

Keeps things looking' tidy till I get the beam conversion sorted anyway!

"Might" finish off my interior over the weekend, got both rear quarter panels to trim in the red fabric.

I do like the rear hub in Red :D I was undecided whether to paint it Black or Red, think I'll go with Red :D

Got round to stripping out the rear quarters today, found some broken glass down by the passenger side, window must have been smashed previously!

Cleaned all that up anyway, washed away years of grime that had built up under the seats whilst I had them out as well (yuck!).

Bit puzzled by the purpose of this big box on each side?

your top speaker is mounted in it aswell, the bottom part was used for a sub, which was used for the 6 speaker system that was an optional upgrade

Cheers Martin, will bear that in mind when I have funds spare again, can look at upgrading it and building an improved speaker setup in the back.

Another day another hour spent on it, rear quarter trim panels this time!

The eagle eyed amongst you will spot some photoshop trickery at play there as well!
Forgot to take a "before" shot of the same side.

Also re-did the A-pillars in red, just need the roof doing black now then I'm done on the inside... for now!

Camera flash exagorates the colours, they aren't "that" bright IRL.
