Hello,

i;ve got an option to buy a buy 1.4 (1999)with a broken engine
in perfect condition for the rest .

My puma (1998) 1.7 has a bad body, and my idea is to buy the 1999 puma
and replace the engine and gearbox with that of mine ,

has anybody done such an upgrade .? and would the wiring be the same accept the ecu

hello

picked up today my new project, looks great, in 2 weeks my projects start, and i'll sent update pics

lol I didn't notice that when I first looked at the pictures , very "fast and furious"

lol, that was my first idea 2, but not the most important

1st, swap the engine with my old engine but before doing it i'm going replace the cam belt and clutch when the enigine has been removed.

and I think to replace the spoiler by something else, the VW Corrado has a adjustable rear spoiler and I'm thinking to use something like that, at high speed the spoiler raises ,and at lower speed it goes down except i'm going to modify a puma spoiler with the Technic of vw./porsche

No the wiring loom is different mate. You'll need to change the key transponder also but since you have both cars it's easy enough if your competent enough. Adjustable rear spoiler would be pretty cool

Just a question will Recaro seats ex Ford Escort fit into my Puma

grtz

today i did a lot broken 1.4 engine has been removed, front sub frame removed
now making it ready for powdercoating, next week order new bushes, and lower arms,
and new water hoses

but i stil wonder if someone ever replaced their gearbox with an automatic gearbox

1.4 should have a shorter final drive in the gearbox meaning you have a choice of which one to use now.

I was about to suggest buying the 1.4 box from you as I want one then I saw the colour of your front number plate

Yes I can have the choise between 2 gearboxes, but i'm trying to get an automatic gearbox attached
instead have handgearbox

I would think it is possible to fit a Fiesta auto gearbox from a car 1995/2002.
Have a look around the scrap yards because not all Fiestas used a zetec engine.

Thx, will check but these automatic gearboxes I think it's hard to find one
for a 1.7 engine, checked it and the one found are for 1.3 engine

whou hell of a job they stuffed a lot of goods into the warehouse so I goy little work space left
and I need space to get the silver puma stripped down and remove everything cause the 1.4 doen;t have ABS

hopefully next week I got space to finish it and remove my engine , and sent to a mate who will replace
cambelt and clutch before placing it into my new Puma

You will not find one for the 1.7 engine because that was Puma specific and only manual IB5 gearboxes were used, however if it fits onto 1.4/1.6 zetec both shared with the Fiesta it should also fit the 1.7.
