Weird Electrical Problem

Had some weird things happening , firstly my headlights and dash lights frequently go super bright then back to normal , secondly the abs / traction control lights come on intermittently probably sensors ? Thirdly whilst driving home today the battery light flickered then all dials went to maximum e.g the speedo went to 140mph even though I was doing 30 fuel gauge went to full etc.
Then they all went to zero then back to normal !
i,m thinking alternator is knackered or maybe someone on here has a clue ?

If you've got a little volt meter, start the engine check the battery voltage.

I've always been told the you should turn on all the lights when you check, but I don't know how true that is. The battery should read 12/13/14v if it's charging correctly/got good alternator.

If you have a digi dash, sweeping of the dials can be a sign of battery/voltage problems.
