as above. where are they located and how many of them are there?

im assuming one on the radiator somewhere?

are there any others?

cheers

I dont think there are any! I may be wrong tho, someone did mention about its easy to airlock the system.

# Set the heater temperature control to maximum (i.e. hot)
# With the engine NOT running, fill the engine with coolant up to the MAX mark on the expansion tank
# Leave the expansion tank filler cap off, and start the engine
# Run the engine for 2 minutes, topping up the coolant to the MAX mark as required. Rev the engine occasionally during this period
# Refit the expansion tank filler cap
# Increase the engine speed to 3000 rpm and hold it there until the radiator fan has switched on and off twice (i.e. two fan cycles).
# Turn the engine off and wait for it to cool down
# Top up the expansion tank to the MAX mark if necessary

try this

(to above) er.................

see my guide

revving engine yes.....water pump will shift water around quickly which might help
running with coolant cap off....no.....coolant system runs under pressure and needs that pressure to release air locks. i know where your coming from as on my cvh fezza this was a good trick, if technically wrong.

iv found the best way on the zetec se is to let it run upto temp with coolant cap on, turn off, undo cap a little, which is technically wrong and can BURN YOU SEVERELY but you will see the pressure release drag air bubbles with it....clearing air locks. try this a few times & keep an eye on the coolant level for a few weeks while it settles undo normal driving.

its a funny system, even specialists in the midlands who supposedly use a vaccum system strugle and have given me my car back with more airlocks than coolant in.....!

yeh the hcv is almost higher than the coolant tank so is a nightmare for getting airlocks, do as above tho & it sorts it pretty quick. im down to less than 20mins from filling coolant to running car with no airlocks (ie car needs no further top ups whatsoever) & considering it takes car 10mins to warm up.... which is a dam site better than the puma 'specialist' i used to go to

really? i would of assumed there would be at least one?

To answer your original question:

Radiator drain "tap" (left-hand side, rear, just up from bottom of radiator).

I had no trouble removing air from the system. Followed instructions on the PP webite (posted here by martinthrapston). Expansion pressure cap off.

Its a plastic screw so be careful not to overtighten it and chew the thread. But make sures its tight too....
