Breaking (sightly modified) 2001 1.7 ALL PARTS AVALIABLE!!!

I have no idea what the bolt you are struggling with is like, but if plus gas and force won't do it. If you can get an angle grinder in there, just cut through the nut. Nuts are replaceable, so are bolts for that matter.

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

It wouldn't have been worth it if my dad had not brought me up fixing cars. The cost of all that work at a garage would have been upwards of £1,000 I am sure. More people should work on their cars, saves £££. I can't wait to drive it again. Spent more time underneath it than in it!

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

Hello again, Have not posted on here for a while due to a mass of problems both car and non car related. My bargain buy has turned into a bit of a money pit by now, but hopefully I am on the way to getting it all sorted. Things that went wrong: First up, as I mentioned above, the timing...

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

Hi all, Haven't posted in a while, a lot of backwards progress has happened. My lovely Puma is now haemorrhaging cash for fun. Latest headache: Breakdown at side of road. AA took two hours and a half to reach me, won't be renewing. Engine just cut out coming off a roundabout. I was driving...

    Miltek 4-2-1 exhaust Manifold REDUCED

Hi, For sale is a used (about 12 months on a car) Miltek 4-2-1 exhaust manifold which would sell new for about £320-30. I bought it, but need a MOT-able car and can't afford a Miltek sports cat. It comes already heat-wrapped. As you can see, the flexi-joint is in great condition. £250 ONO...

Ramair induction cone filter power loss

Shiny! Did you paint your brake fluid cap (and I presume the other caps) or did you order them from somewhere? If I was to use the front hole, I would leave the side feed in. So if it doesn't work...no bother. Will probably do the FRP mod in the future anyway. Just a quick fix so I can go back...

Ramair induction cone filter power loss

Hi, I installed one of these yesterday and, while the noise was initially impressive, I think it felt actually less powerful. I have a K&N Panel Filter (unused), so I am thinking, if I bung the airbox back in, put a cold air feed in from the grill and strip out the resonator chambers, that...

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

Biting point much lower. Far better gear change and more confidence to gun it. The carpets always come out when we work on cars at my dads, that red rug you can see, it actually used to be in our old house. And I am pretty sure that carpet came out of the spare room at some point. Rules for...

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

Took the Puma to my dad's today for its clutch change. Saw on here people reckoning they took three or four hours to do it, I reckon their clocks run slow. Ten hours, yes TEN hours later, the clutch was on and working like a dream. Here she is up in the air: Untitled The blue jack is...

Moondust Silver Puma 1.7 (AKA: "Ouch, my wallet hurts")

Did the rocker cover gasket today (thanks to the great how to on here). Someone had obviously been filling it up with oil and not realising it was seeping out at the cam belt end as oil level was fine but a tonne of oil has coated that side of the block, underneath and everywhere really. Not...

OIL! Coating underneath engine on driver's side. With pics

Definitely not cam belt. Grey rubber that looked like the one taken out of the car in the how to on here.

OIL! Coating underneath engine on driver's side. With pics

I think that must be it, I just found two bits of rubber in amongst the oil which looked liked bits of the Gasket. Is that bad news? I just started the engine and a few times it did this very strange shuddering and then failing to start. Then I tried again and it started like a dream.

OIL! Coating underneath engine on driver's side. With pics

Problem after problem for me. Was checking for play in steering components, wheel off driver's side and the drive shaft looked oily as heck on the seal, but also everywhere around it. Stuck my head underneath and could see oil, some of it definitely fresh, coating the bottom of the of the engine...
