The BBC has revealed its coverage plans for all Formula 1 races in 2012.

Ten races will be shown live on BBC One, including the British, Monaco and season-ending Brazilian Grands Prix.

Of the other 10, there will be extended highlights programmes on BBC One, of either 90-minute or two-hour duration depending on race location.

Races in the Far Eastern time zone will have highlights broadcast on BBC One at 1400, with those in the European time zone getting 90 minutes at 1730.

The BBC's coverage of all the live races will be as extensive as ever, with all the action on and off the track across TV, radio, online, red button and mobile.

There will be full live coverage of both qualifying and race on BBC One, BBC One HD and the BBC Sport website, plus a one-hour evening highlights programme on BBC Three and BBC HD.

For these races, all three practice sessions will be shown live on the red button and the website.

The F1 Forum will continue on the red button for about an hour of comment and analysis after the programme.

The presentation team will be at all the races, including those that are not being broadcast live on BBC television. Full details of the team will be revealed at a later date.

For those races in the Far East time zone which take place early in the morning in the UK, two hours of highlights will be shown at 1400.

For races which are run at a time that is early afternoon in the UK, 90 minutes of highlights will be shown at 1730. Schedules are subject to change.

The full narrative of the weekend, including live text and audio commentary, news, interviews, pictures and highlights of all sessions on track, will also be available on the BBC Sport website and there will be live coverage of both qualifying and the race on radio.

All 20 grands prix will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 5 Live or 5 Live Sports Extra.

The BBC Sport website and red button will broadcast live coverage of every second of on-track action for all the races that are live on BBC One and will have highlights of the others.

Personally I think they've got the best ones! And the mega early ones they haven't got I always used to watch the re-runs later in the day anyway.

:eek:k:

This one Vix

Looks like part of the sky sports package, not worth the extra £20 a month for me.

If Sky have anything to do with it, it'll be all glam, image and rumour with no substance or fact.

Or am I just generalising ?

Both the BBC or SKY cost an infinite amount more than I pay i.e zero.

Think it's over a year now since I watched live TV in my own home and I am genuinely suprised that I haven't missed it at all but saved a good bit of coin in the process too. ;)

The F1 channel is a new, stand alone channel which is FREE with EITHER sports subscription OR with simply an HD subscription. At the minute you get a £100 M&S voucher if you sign up on line!

It's not free if you don't have the subscription though! £100 M&S voucher is all very well but it'll be spent on stuff you didn't need anyway and therefore not save you money. Cynic, moi? :p

i love sky and i got sky but i sill dont want sky taking over the F1 all way love the way bbc do the F1. just hope sky do a good job of it as i love the F1. i hope they have ad brakes why the race is on as sky fu*king love there fu*king ads lol

There will not be ads shown during Sky F1 races:

FAQ's
"Will the race be interrupted by adverts?
In a word: no.

But Bazz up the pub last night insisted that all the grands prix would be full of adverts...
We're aware that there's been plenty of false rumouring doing the rounds about our coverage, but here's one thing you can be certain of: Sky Sports F1 HD will be broadcasting all of next season's races live and uninterrupted by adverts. Promise. And say hi to Bazz from us."

They have a real commentator at last too...David Croft. I wish I could afford sky grrrrr (also locked in with a contract anyway). Pooh!

A great commentator makes all the difference! I refuse to watch the BBC's MotoGP coverage due to my hatred of Charlie Cox and his complete lack of knowledge plus constant use of metaphors!

Yup I have been waiting for a Murray replacement (don't get me wrong, no-one could replace him but you know what I mean) for years!
