blimey, dont you all change cars often?!

i had tiggy - a mark3 escort from 97-99 - KORY530Y
then stella - 1.2 clio oasis from 99-2008 N195HPW
then missfliss 1.7 puma from 2008 to now and beyond...

i cant understand how people dont get attached to their cars! flissy takes me wherever i want to go, whenever, in comfort and without a quibble...i spend a lot of time in her and, frankly, i love her to bits (as i did the previous 2!)

t xx

Cool thread, some nice cars there. Heres my list.

1) Bought my first car after riding a moped. A gold 1.1 mk3 fiesta. Whoop. Proper reliable, but sold it for this, which was at the time the car i've always wanted in the whole wide world.

2) Mk2 Fiesta XR2

DSC_4111.jpg

DSC00905.jpg

It was everything i wanted and more, my best car i've ever owned. I sold this on when i decided to buy something more modern. I met my current GF who had a 4 month old boy, so wanted something safer. So i got the puma.

3) Puma 1.7 VCT. I bought a full stainless decat system for it and coilovers too.

DSC_4586Large.jpg

As it had no rear seat space, after about a year i decided i wanted a 4 door and a big boot, but i also wanted to go back to the 'old skool fords' again. Think i was missing the XR2 a bit much. So i bought this:

4) Ford Sierra Saphire Cosworth replica. (2.0 twinky)

DSC_4593Large.jpg

DSC_4591Large.jpg

It was very roomy. It had a full leather cosworth recaro interior too. Unfortunatley, it had a few massive problems i couldn't live with everyday. I decided i couldn't live with tempremental old cars any more and that it was a silly mistake to buy it, so i flogged in on after 2 weeks and got back in my trusty puma.

After a few more months i decided to look for something bigger again. Could of got a mondy, but i suddenly started noticing ZS's all over the place and they really took my fancy. Not long later and i'm now the proud owner of this:

5) Mk1 MG ZS 180 Hatch

DSC_4608Large.jpg

DSC_4611Large.jpg

While the MG has had its problems already, i've hopefully ironed a few of them out. I'm loving owning it. I sold the puma earlier this week, which was a sad time, and it sounded awesome as it drove down the road!

And thats where i am today!!

1993 Nissan Sunny 1.4LX 5-DR L***ROT

IMAGE_113.jpg

IMAGE_114.jpg

Bought for £240, with only 86k on the clock, this was a brilliant lucky find, and lasted me without breaking down. I ended up selling this to my brother so he could learn to drive in it.

1996 Peugeot 406 1.8LX 4-DR P***RUY

Image036.jpg

Image038.jpg

Bought for £740, an immaculate low milage, old lady owner. It could have been a reliable, fun, cheap to run vehicle. It could have been, but it wasn't. The speedo kept sticking, so I was using the tacho to judge my speed, until the tacho broke. I only got just over three months use out of it before it spat a conrod out the front of the engine, and I was five days out of warranty. I was without a car for about four months, until I got lucky again, and managed to get the Sunny back for a while. Unfortunately the CV joint was clicking, and I thought it was going to be expensive to fix, so I P/X 'd it.

1993 Nissan Primera 2.0SGX 4DR

DSCF1180.jpg

PICT0004.jpg

Bought for £300 pounds with 133k, I bought this in August '09. By the time I got my Puma in early October '10, I had covered nearly 22k, which is even more impressive, considering I spent six months in Afghanistan! It needed a clutch and water pump, but this was the car that really introduced me to maintenance and polishing. I've still got the car, just in case the Puma REALLY goes wrong, so it remains taxed and MOTed. A fantastic car, unfortunately rust is getting the better of it, and when the MOT runs out, she'll be going to the great scrapyard in the sky!

1994 Kia Mentor 1.6GLX 4-Dr

harrisg2.jpg
(Only picture I could find from the advert)

What a horrid, horrid car. Bought for £280, with the intention of sprucing it up for the other half whilst she learns to drive. Car later turned out to be a Cat C, other half never learned how to drive, car ended up scrapped last week. Absolutely nothing redeeming or rewarding about driving this car, except the fact it was exceedingly cheap to run on fuel.

And of course:

DSCF1836.jpg

Bought for £1150, with many dents and scrapes, on the 8th of October, and already done 2,000 miles in it already. A very rewarding drive, and regularly getting 38-42mpg with super unleaded. Only done a full service so far, and working out what I want to do with her in the future.

Apologies for length, but I'm passionate about these cars! (Except the Kia)

Not bad for Two and a Half years motoring, eh? And that's with nine months off!

updated mine lol:

my car history consists of...

2007-2008 -1997 Vauxhall Corsa Breeze 1.2
2008-2008 - 1999 T Ford Puma
2008 - 2010 - 1999 V Ford Puma
2010 - ???? FRP 014

metro city x fiesta xr2 escort xr3i corsa b (heavily modded tho) corsa c 1.2 sxi vecta 2.5gsi v6 fiesta 1.3 flight then the puma

Ive only been driving for 3 years so i dont have a huge list like some:

First car was a T reg mazda 121 (mk4 fiesta) it was a great little car and i only paid £800 for it with 40k on the clock, after 9 months of being driven by an 18 year old it started to develop a few problems so i px/d it for my next car..

...A Suzuki Swift Sport, honestly if you get the chance to drive one dont hesitate. It was great fun and i still rate it better than the puma for driving thrills, its only real downside was that it wasnt really that quick although i did get a few extra bhp by freeing up the very retrictive twin cat exhaust and a few other bits. I only got rid of the swift about 2 weeks ago as i needed something a little bigger incase i need to tow our puma track car...

...so im currently running round in an Audi A4 2.0tdi thats just about as different to the swift as can be, the only fault i can find with it is that everyone thinks its my dads car! Oh and it has an automatic lighting pack that leaves the lights on when you get out for about 20 seconds so you can see where your going if its dark and people constantly keep telling me ive left my lights on

As mentioned above i also have the puma track toy that i got about a month before i sold the swift, im the regestered keeper of the puma but in reality its a joint project to keep cost reasonable.

I will try to dig out a few pics.

The bulk of mine's a bit shoddy...to say the least:

2000: Rover 213 - 1989 Mk1 1.3L 4dr grey (owned for about a month before sold. Never drove on the road as I didn't have a license until the end of 2001)

2001-2002: Ford Fiesta - 1988 Mk2 1.1L 3dr white (owned for about a week before sending it through a 180 spin and backwards into a ditch and tree at high speed at around 11pm on Jan 1st. Lesson learnt.)

2002: Ford Fiesta - 1979 Mk1 1.1L 3dr red (owned for a couple of months before it became a non-runner)

2002: Ford Fiesta XR2 - 1986 Mk2 1.6L 3dr red (owned this rapid but complete and utter rustbucket for over half a year before my lack of experience and no ABS led me to sliding into the kerb under braking round a sharp bend in the rain, and bent the suspension. Before the Celica and Puma came along this was the most enjoyable car I'd driven)

<Off the road for 2003. Lost driving license in 2002 for getting 6 points and had to retake tests. Another lesson learnt.>

2004-2006: Ford Escort - 1996 Mk6 1.4L 5dr white (owned for two years but it did take a lot of abuse and was eventually run into the ground)

2006: Ford Mondeo - 1997 Mk1 1.8L 5dr black (owned for about a month near the start of 2006 before being written off. Involved leaving the dual carriageway onto a blind-entranced slip road to be confronted by a queue of traffic, bumping heavily up a kerb at about 30-40mph and onto grass area, straight through and taking down one road sign, and eventually bumping and bouncing across the ground to a halt. It had been the best condition car I'd owned both mechanically and cosmetically until my current two cars. Lesson learnt yet again. :( )

2006-2010: Toyota Celica - 1991 Mk5 2.0L GTi 16V 3dr dark metallic grey (most enjoyable car I've ever driven. Cosmetically the bodywork wasn't in a good condition and so it wasn't much to look at, but it was so nice and so much fun to drive. Eventually it just became no longer economically suitable to maintain as the costs kept racking up. It had 120k miles when I bought it. 175K miles when I took it to pieces - all of which I'm still currently selling)

Present: Ford Escort - 1997 Mk6 1.8L Zetec Ghia X dark metallic blue. Downgraded to an Escort as in my current place in life I needed to start behaving even more economically conservative as I'm working massive amounts of hours and saving money hard. Took my time to find a Ford Escort no older than '97, at least 1800cc, preferrably black (or dark blue second), in really good condition, and with very low mileage. This is the one I ended up with. Hasn't let me down so far. Just needed a new water/coolant tank as the old one had a split in it. Nothing else yet. :)

Present: Ford Puma - 1999 1.7L metallic blue. This is my second car (it is both mine and my partner's) which replaced her first car, 1994 Vauxhall Corsa, that failed its latest MOT. It really is a great car to drive. I don't drive it often as I use the Escort, but it is a nippy little lightweight thing that you can really throw about. It reminds me of the old Fiesta XR2 in that way, except it is a much nicer car in much better condition and definitely has to be placed above that in my top 3. Behind the Celica for me personally for sheer driveability, but still a great second best. :)

Right, i I recall it goes;

'80 Volvo 343 (bought to learn with when I was 15, it was utterly shot)
'86 Rover 216 SE EFi
'88 Toyota Celica GT
'97 Rover 416 Saloon
'87 Mk1 Toyota MR2
'92 Mitsubishi Lancer GLX
'97 Peugeot 306 XL (loved that car)
'99 Nissan Primera Diesel estate (I was moving house in this... slowly)
'88 Mk1 Toyota MR2
'96 Volkswagon Polo 1.4
98 Peugeot 306 XSi 16 valve (wasn't a patch on the old XL)
'00 Skoda Fabia 1.4 (loved this car also even though it broke weekly)
'05 Ford Focus TDCi Sport (awful in almost every way including daily break-downs)
'07 Citroen C1 (awesome little car)
'88 205 GTi 1.6 (mmmmmm.... has only just been sold)
'92 Honda Prelude 2.2 vTec (bought for some summer fun for £300, was a dog but a quick dog)
'97 Golf GTi (never did get it running, still it was trash anyway and I made a profit)
'06 Citroen C4 VTR+ 1.6 (my current daily and a great, great car)
'97 Ford Puma 1.7 (loving the drive but not the leaks - it'll get sorted)

What a strange collection of cars!

From my starting point its not a bad place to be now, here we go

Citroen 2CV (all 600cc of it lowered with side exit cherry bomb, sounded great but was slow as you like)
Suzuki SJ413 Jeep
Landrover Defender 90 TD (brilliant car still on my list to buy for my fantasy garage if I won the lottery)
Williams Clio 2.0l 16v (lowered, K+N, magnex etc)
Puma 1.7 VCT (red - unmodified!) loved it, not as quick as the clio but better fun
Mini Cooper 1.6 - desperately trying to find a replacement for the puma as no longer made but never quite lived up to it.
BMW 3series diesel - Great at what it does up and down the country in comfort with 55mpg
RACING PUMA 0027 in addition to the beemer to put some fun back into my driving life.

Also a shared 950 MK1 fiesta - lowered with XR3i pepperpots in black and full cage and race seats ultimately ended up with a formula ford 1600 x flow and rs turbo 5 speed box MMM nice. Was the ultimate Q car as most guys saw the 950 badge and came as a bit of a surprise when they saw how quick it was.

My first car was a 1999 Renault Clio that I bought off my sister for £650 when I was 16 so it sat on the drive for eight months before I was 17. It took me just over 3 months to pass my test so it wasn't a bad first car (piss easy to drive)

102_0201.jpg

I had that until March last year when my sister bought a Hyundai Coupe and I bought her Renault Megane Coupe off her for a steal of £700 and I loved it until this:
