I have an annoying clunking noise coming from beneath !
At first I thought it was the (badly fitted and offcentre) rear part of the exhaust, but I've secured it and it's still happening. The sound is coming from the back and is a dull thudding sound that happens as I pass over small bumps mostly. I've checked the spare tyre holder and it's done up properly. Is there anything commonly found on Pumas that does this ?
Cheers.

Could be a lot of things, Puma's get pretty clunky when various suspension bits go, bearings, bushes, drive train, wishbones u-joint, could possibly be part of the exhaust or handbrake etc etc. I'm no expert so perhaps the fact it happens over small bumps might give someone a clue, is it only small bumps? Does it happen while turning at all? is it constant or intermittent? Does it happen at high speed and low speed? Does it happen if you roll over small bumps and/or when you're accelerating? If you can answer some of these it might give someone some an idea or an avenue of investigation.

Sorry I'm not helping much lol.

I noticed you're in London, you could drive to Woodford in Essex and get Steavie to have a look, he's a recommended mechanic and member on here and a Puma specialist, I highly recommend! http://www.performancepuma.com/services.html

Consult your doctor! (Sorry someone had to say it).
Once you have the all clear in medical terms, get the back of your car up on axle stands and start testing stuff. There really isn't that much at the back of a Puma to make a noise. Prime suspect to my mind would be the rear beam bushes, especially if they are the standard rubber type. Top and bottom shock absorber mountings would be next on my list to check.

 yeah im thinking suspension, have a good look round and check for play. probably bushes or top mounts, if its clunking over pot holes etc.

Thanks Tekz, it happens all the time when the road surface gets a bit bumpy, along the straight and round corners.
Thanks Tux and Slayllian, a friend of mine who knows Fords said it might be shock absorber mountings, I hope it is just this as it seems relatively easy to deal with.

Yeah, sounds likely, shocks/top mounts/bushes, usual suspects ;D

My sisters does bang about a bit at the back. It's on about 65k and bangs harshly on loose gravel like my driveway. I take it the top and upper mounts can only really be tested with the shocker out? Also u say bump stops? These things easy to replace?
Thanks

What happens if you bounce the rear of the car ie push down hard

Does the car bounce up and down before coming to a rest ?

Likely causes are as said before

1.one rear shock knackered
2.suspension top mount knackered ( needs shock out)
3.rear beam bushes gone ( needs rear beam dropped)
