Can anyone tell me about this? I think a viscous diff was fitted to just a few FRPs? Anyone know which / where I could get a similar spec one? Thinking of trying it instead of my ATB.

Thanks.

About 80 were fitted with them from memory as it was an optional extra, dont know which ones but easy to tell if you jack the car up at the front end and spin one wheel, if it goes in the same direction on the other side as if they have a link rod between them you have an lsd if they go in opposite directions you have a standard diff.

As far as getting hold of them rs turbo escorts had a very similar lsd that fit, but thats a bit of a lottery as many of them are knackered. Quaiffe is a really good option and tbh better than the viscous one that was fitted.

seconded. iv had a knackered rs diff (NEVER trust a ford owner to sell anything of decent quality!!)

now got a quaife...blows away an lsd in the corners or on slippery roads.

The problem with posting in the small hours is this I miss out some crucial information...this is in relation to my rally car. I already have a Quaife ATB. Other options are viscous or plate (e.g. Tran X).

ATB is smoother for general road use and on tarmac, but that is irrelevant to me as I'll be on gravel in the longer term. It may not be the best for rallying, especially when each wheel has extreme differences in grip levels (e.g. one is in the air) and no good for driving out on one shaft either.

So I might end up with a plate diff, but am trying to find out info & availability on the viscous one before deciding. Any idea who supplies these new?

Thanks.

yep...atb will act like an open diff with one wheel off the ground. prob better with a plated diff etc
