Hi

I am about to change the fuel pump/sender unit on my car and asking if there is anyone/company out there who repairs them rather just replaces the entire unit.
I expect the pump is failing but the sender is all ok.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards Ian

As far as I know, there are 3 different fuel pump/sender units. I think its best to just change the actual pump, which means drilling out the rivet at the bottom of the sender unit and disconnecting the hose.
When I purchased my Thunder the fuel gauge only went down to 3/4 full, as the previous owner had replaced the fuel pump/sender unit with an incorrect one. Luckily he had retained the original faulty pump/sender unit, so I was able to swap the working pump to the original sender unit.
On reassembly I replaced the rivet with a stainless bolt and nut and used a new clip on the hose.
Replacement pumps cost from about £15 upwards.
