Right i really really need your help on this one guys i have been pulling my hair out with what to do.

Basically i was driving through town yesterday day my mate in the car in front and some dick decided to reverse way to fast out of a multi-storey on to a busy main road and straight into my drivers side wing.
he gave me all his details and said its his wife's car and doesn’t know who the insurance is with

there is not to much damage but we took it straight to a body shop who where very helpful and said £150 for the wing and £60 for the wheel so its booked in for Thursday.

my dilemma is i went round to his house today as he has turned his phone off and I’ve tried him 28times and said okay that’s fine he wants to go through the insurance basically my car has been modified and i have been stupid enough not to tell them :-
side skirts
spolier
tinted windows
FRP seats
lowerd
air filter
sub & amp
ford mondao alloys

i need to know will they send someone round for the sake of £210 and will it effect my insurance in anyway.

Really need your help on what to do with this one guys.

Thanks

James.

First, off, you've realised why should should notify your insurance, of any modifications!

They may send someone round, I guess you can only go through the process and see what happens.

dont forget you have to pay the excess aswell on any claim and then you will get that back from the insurance company once everything has been sorted out, technically your driving uninsured so might be worth declaring the mods asap.....

if it was me i would pay for the repairs,as if you dont declare the mods mr insurance man will not cover the policy anymore, you would be looking at a big hike the following year.maybe he wasnt insured??????????? there is a link somewhere on dvla where you tap in the reg number and it tells you if the cars got insurance.

As you are technically not insured, please don't drive your car until you are. If someone hits you, or heaven forbid, you hit someone else and cause injury, they'll throw the book at you for being uninsured and possibly get personally sued. You'll loose your car then.

We have insurance affiliations with Adrian Flux and Sky insurance who specialise in modified car insurance, giving ProjectPuma members a discount. Might be worth a call:

>Adrian Flux<

>Sky Insurance<

think i have learnt my lesson now.
there is no way i will be taking the risk of going through the insurance so I’m going to have to out.

My insurance is due Saturday and i have got a quote with so called Adrian flux and they said £2070 made me laugh as i have 3 years no claims.

Elephant 3years NCB 20years old all mods declared £997 :)

Lesson Learnt.

James.

Speak to a claims company, they should be able to sort out the claim without involving your insurance.

But as others have said, always tell the insurance company about all mods as you will find it hard to get insured correctly if you get caught out.

well with all due respect why have they quoted me £2000 and another company £900 that’s a shocking difference they are meant to deal with young boys and modified cars apparently.

i think he was taking the naming of the company literally, rather than a reference to your uncompetitive quote.

There is not one insurance company that are the best / cheapest price for everyone. There are so many variables such as your age, location, job, driving history etc, etc and different insurers put more or less emphasis on certain criteria than others and price their policies accordingly.

Or else there would only be one insurance company we all used.

yeah i guess so I’ve just been so frustrated about everything then getting super expensive quotes just adds to it all.

But i will have legal insurance as of next week and none was hurt which is the main thing :)

Maybe the Adrian Flux company has been reading this thread (as they do from time to time) and seen what a naughty boy you've been!
