Hi people, I have a mk3 fiesta 1.1L which I'm planning to do an engine swap on , I've already removed the engine and engine loom , I have the 1.7 puma lump with the engine loom and Ecu, the loom is also connected to a fuse box which have two plug connector slots empty with no plug on ( c2 c3 ) , will the engine still run without anything plugged in there , I understand I'll have to find a way to link up the ignition somehow but apart from that do I really need anything plugged in ?
Cheers

I kind of get the slight impression that Puma engines in any other car other than a Puma don't get much interest on this site, or in this instance it's possible nobody actually knows the answer to your question.

The two coloured plugs are the connection for electrical circuits within the engine bay to connect to the internal loom. Those plugs carry the wiring for things like the reverse switch, headlights, side lights, fog lights, indicators, A/C etc.

The part of the loom that runs the engine theoretically should be separate (electrically) from any of the other circuits as everything on the engine should wire back to the ECU so I would think that the engine MAY run without the two coloured plugs connected but this is only an assumption and I cannot say for sure.
When I did my Mk5 conversion I had everything plugged in/connected.

When you remove the Mk3 fuse box, it should have one or two of those plugs connected (C2/C3) which need to be disconnected to get the fuse box out.
Does your Mk3 have any these plugs to connect in to the fuse box on the Puma loom?

Out of curiosity do you have or blonde where I can find out what all the pins are in c2 and c3?

CherryVimto is right that most people here probably don't have any experience putting a Puma engine in another car. Someone should have details on what the electrics do in the car though.

Good luck.

C2 & C3 is where the interior wires go into the fuse box and communicate with it, the ECU transponder will be in them wires. You need a whole wiring loom from a puma, or find a Fiesta MK5 with digital clocks and take the inside wiring all going behind the dashboard. Even the wiring to the ignition & wiper stalks will be needed.

You'll also want the digital clocks from the Puma for your temp guage etc to work. If your loom is off an older Puma with analogue, then you'll need analogue interior wiring loom.

If you have a Fiesta MK5 with a green & white wire going into C2 & C3 you literally have a plug & play engine conversion.

People usually opt for the ZETEC 1.8 engine out of an old Escort for the conversions on the older Fiesta's.
