Testing heater control

Is there a way to test if the heater control valve still works? I've done a live test on the plug from the control panel and I have permanent live but no earth on hot or cold. I've tested two pumas, both about the same age, and they both give the same results. I know one of them has had a new valve and control panel, and the other is on the original panel and I'm unsure about the valve. Basically I just want to know if it's the valve at fault by seeing if I can manually actuate it with a 12v supply.

Any help is appreciated, because both cars are blowing hot, and both really need to work haha.

It's ok I worked it out! Both valves are working fine so it's either the panels or wiring.
