inner tie rod boot

hi can someone please help me Am trying to replace inner tie bar ive got all the parts I need but when ive come to remove inner boot there is a pipe connected to it, can someone tell me what its for , as I don't want to remove boot incase all the oil comes out of rack Regards Paul

If its right at the top of the boot, It's for ventilation and it'll be connected to the other side. Should just be air
