    My Daughter Calls it Tigger

It's been a while since checking in with a progress report. Unfortunately things are not well with the Tig. I sent the car for repair to the rear arches at a local body shop that specialised in crash repairs, a quick turnaround and a very competitive quote. I now wish I had gone somewhere else...

    Rust and rear arches

I drove around a few local body shops for quotes. Prices ranged from £400 for welding and paint (but there's a two month waiting list) , to £200 for just the welding. Think I'll take the latter option and do the filling and paint myself.

Idler Pulley & Aux Belt Change

    Good idea, but mine was too far gone for that. Found it in the 'How to' section. All sorted and NO MORE SQUEAK! :-P http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?nomobile=1&f=51&t=15264" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Idler Pulley & Aux Belt Change

Need to change the idler pulley as it's making a hell of a racket. Went to local Ford to get a quote and was told it would cost just over £70 for both, and I'd have to wait as it would be special order from the factory (if they had it)! Seriously??!! Politely passed and went to local...

    My Daughter Calls it Tigger

Okay, spent this afternoon replacing the rocker cover gasket. I couldn't have done it without the excellent instructions in the 'How To' section, which made things very straightforward. I took my time in cleaning things up and also replaced the spark plugs whilst in there (after clearing up...

    Lowering...

A very interesting read, many thanks Dal.

    Lowering...

I'd like to lower the Puma from it's standard height to give it more of a clean stance (very similar to the silver Puma above in the page header), but got a few questions. Does lowering make for a harder ride? (I find the standard set-up stiff enough). Is it straightforward enough to change them...

    My Daughter Calls it Tigger

Got it back from the mechanics today. They sorted the front and back passenger side bearings, and welded the hole in the floor. Brakes are not as bad as before but are still a bit pants, so will upgrade to ST150s. Thanks to the recent turn in the weather it now has idler squeak, so will replace...

    Alloy Confusion

Got ya. Many thanks for the explanation. Will flog'em off or try a straight swap for Puma rims then. Bit of a shame though, they look the business and are in crackin nick.

    Alloy Confusion

Please excuse my ignorance, but why do I need spacers if the wheels turn okay? I'm not really sure what this all means, would you mind explaining? I'd really appreciate you setting me straight. Many thanks lads.

    Alloy Confusion

I've managed to grab a set of what I thought were Thunder rims. I now know they came off a Fiesta and have an offset 43.5 (if Im reading it right). Do you think this will affect the handling? They do give the car a whole new cleaner/meaner look though

    Rounded Rocker Cover Bolts

Went to take off the rocker cover to clean and respray it, and replace gasket. Two of the bolts were badly rounded. Tried to hammer in a Torx bit, but no joy and was worried of causing further damage. Any ideas on how to free them?

    My Daughter Calls it Tigger

I've managed to grab a bargain set of Thunder alloys that need a refurb, which I'll do myself. Question is, should I spray them black, moondust silver or anthracite? Update- They're not actually 'Thunder' alloys. They came off a Fiesta and have an offset 43.5 (if Im reading it right). Will this...

    My Daughter Calls it Tigger

Thanks Paul Think I'll get shot of the rims and get proper Puma ones. Could I upsize to 16" or even 17" rims, or does it get too complicated? Anyone recommend a good tyre for the Puma?
