Hello everyone,

At the moment I am busy gatering parts together for a turbo build on my 1.7 ford puma.
I will be aiming for +/- 180 crank HP using a garrett T25 turbo.
Already found a lot of information on this forum.

Now the question I've got is abut the Moats Quaterhorse. (link: http://www.moates.net/quarterhorse-for-fords-p-199.html)
I found this thing while I was gathering information about the fuelling for my turbo build.
On other fords with the EEC engine management the Quaterhorse can be used to fully program any kind of EEC management. It plugs into the J3 port at te back of the ecu just like a chip, but you can write youre own tables for it, like fuelling and spark. Question is, Has anybody on this forum ever used the Quaterhorse?
On the website of moates it states that ther hardware is able to work with all EEC managements, buth that for most european models software is quite lacking. To know if the quarterhorse would work with te puma ECU I got to know the strategy the ecu works with. (http://support.moates.net/ford-strategies-supported/)
Ive got a TAPE ecu and a P051 (wich should have been a dive from factory, but the P051 was a dealer fit item when te standard ecu was broken/didn't work) My car has got 2 lambda's but I've put in the TAPE ECU at the moment so it only uses 1 lambda.

Any info would be very helpfull. :D

Been busy getting info about our puma's ecu at another forum. There is someone ther wo might want to look into breaking down the puma eec-v's code so well be able to fully programm our own ecu's. But he wants to know if there are people who are intrested in this.
The information I got so far can be found here: http://forum.efidynotuning.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=2194

Question is, who wold be intrested? I for certainly would. As it would be a lot easier and cheaper than buying a full standalone ecu. It would also be possible for a lot of people to put on the racing puma map yourself as an example.

Hardware needed for this can be found here: http://www.moates.net/quarterhorse-for-fords-p-199.html
Not a bad deal imo to make your standard ecu fully programmable :-D

Hi Josh,

Sounds very interesting prospect, not seen this thread before but re. information, have you searched through project threads that have already done turbo conversions or turbo engine swaps, those guys will have had to get involved in/consider engine management wizardry and may be able to help? Errol for instance (Pumanoob) immediately springs to mind, maybe Ben (Moondustka)? Might be worth having a look to see if anything relevant & dropping a PM if you think they might be able to assist? (Hope they don't mind the suggestion btw)
