regardless of what TIS and haynes says you can do this without dropping the subframe, i got loads of pics so may do a guide if i get bored

results after a drive were that i quite like it actually its different, obviously, and will take some getting used to, but it feels like i can be a lot more smoother and can really feel now when the wheels start to lose grip, need to get tracking done as its way out lol

going to remove the rest of the PAS pump and lines tomorrow i think

nah its surprisingly light, not much difference when you are going along then the pas rack tbh, you notice it when you come to a stop and want to do a turn though lol

yeah deffo

ok i got bored and impatient lol

stuff that is no longer on my car

My Ka had no power steering with the focus lump - I got the chance to retain it in the puma and did.

Power steering is better for driving on the road - not that nice 100mph + (Ford's system anyway)

Manual steering is god for driving feel, and probably better for track. You can feel a lot more, but it's harder to control torque steer. The power steering helps you. Any low speed movement is a nightmare though!

Manual steering is hard work on a track, but I wouldn't have power steering for a track car unless there was a specific reason.

Hope it all goes well when you first take it back on track mate.

I'll expect you'll find it a totally different experience than previous as all that weight removal has to effect the handling somewhat - hopefully for the better but damn, that car must be much quicker off the mark and through the gears. Lets hope that's not sacrificed it's handling capabilities as I wouldn't be suprised if it was a little more skittery (is that a word?) or loose ;)

Looking really good.

Other than the cage, what else have you got planned?? I don't think there is anything else you can take off it is there!?

Things I'm going to try and do this year, cage plus interior respray again. Powdercoat subframe, New petrol tank, I need to start putting some time.and money into some.trackdays too, been 6 months since I was.last out

well sir that look like a very light cat you have there.no pas isnt that bad once you get used to it.saying that i only had 1 car with out pas :-D

Got to say I'm loving these little track puma projects on here. Admittedly at first I thought "wow, what a shame, that car looked so clean" but having read through about what you've actually done it seems like a really cool project.

Have you actually weighed the car or is your <850kg figure an estimate? That's really impressive.

When do you think you'll be on track next?
