Set about spraying the metal behind the dash tonight, took everything off and masked up

car has been hiding for past few days in tonys workshop, turned up today to find out hes put some poles (not the illegal immigrant types) in my car

not only that the man had gone mad taking build pictures so i put uploaded them for some facebook bumming

the cage is designed to be welded in but he pretty much threw the original plates that are supposed to be used to welded to, they are crappy and small anyway, so he built custom boxes for the feet, with some nuts welded inside so they are captive. Then the cage was converted to bolt in rather then weld in which means i can now remove it to have it powdercoated. Not only that he went to the trouble of putting me some harness bars in, what a man. Some build pics

Didn't realise you could have removable roll cages. I assumed everyone just welded them in.

Have you decided on a colour?

welding in is the easy option, now iv had it converted it means if i ever scrap the shell or knock it or just decide to simply split the car then i can remove the cage and transfer/sell it

last update for today weather is pissing me off seem sealed the welds on the box sections

holy fucking masking

gave it a once over with wire drill

then gave it a wash with thinners and hoovered, needs more sanding and cleaning still though before i can even think about paint

got the angle grinder to the uneeded studs and threads in the car

zinc primered wherever there was bare metal in the boot area, i want to get this sprayed up pretty quick before the rest as this masking isnt going to hold out in this weather rain and wind

hope to get the silver on that in a bit

got the silver on inner bootlid, thats about the only bit il be painting for a day to two though

got a move on with this quicker then a thought, gave it another sand down with a block, then another sand with wet or dry paper, followed that with a wash down with detergent degreaser

then gave it a final wash with white spirit dried etc, then zinc primer

leave that to dry for a day or two now, now idea when im going to paint as weather looks crap for the next few days

what other colours do you have round the car? apart from the blue harnesses obviously

blue lower arms, blue rear beam, so blue was the natural plan for the cage too, but now iv seen them i quite like orange too

will have to be blue or orange i think even though that exige green is my favourite colour
