A few updates. Proflex being re-engineered to fit the wider FRP track. Some bits'n'pieces done this week, including fitting the kevlar floor guards from the Flying Scotsman and some carbon/kevlar sill protection. Top tip: do not attempt the latter without a heat gun...

Latest update...she's rolling! Front suspension back from Proflex. They machined some standard Puma hubs out to FRP spec so I have a spare pair. (They've got the spec on the jig now, so can machine them to order if anyone wants to avoid the FRP hub rip-off.)

A bit of a Safari Rally ride height going on, but the front wheels are now pointing in the right direction!

Thanks chaps. The list continues:

  • wrap wiring
    bolt it all back together
    spanner check
    ride height / tracking
    refurb wheels / fresh rubber
    drive it!
    tarmac testing & set-up
    new cams / remap
    tarmac single-venue rally
    tarmac multi-venue rally
    gravel testing
    gravel rally

Loom & dash in and FRP alloys painted. Lots of bolting stuff in to do now, just as I inconveniently start working in Edinburgh during the week

What's with the FRP in the picture? Who's is that?

That's Joe's toy. Joe's one of Dan's mates who helps out on big jobs like engine swaps. He's a Porsche mechanic by day. I have threatened to use his FRP as spares, but in the meantime am going to use it as a template for ride height etc. Joe might bring it tarmac testing with mine for comparison and a bit of fun.

Don't think there's anything misaligned; just the camera angle.

Just looking forward to driving the damn thing now!

It looks really good and a long time coming!!
Brilliant effort of all the chaps who have had a hand in it... But let Dan know there's another one coming his way.

Fantastic looking motor mate! Great to see all that hard work coming together!

Well, an update (eventually). After a 3 month hiatus while I've been commuting to Edinburgh (!), the car's at home and I've been doing loads of finishing of jobs. I can't even think of them all - they seem to go one for ever. The list never gets shorter; whenever I knock something off, I seem to add something else on.

Done stuff like mudflaps, flaps to protect the sill tubes, dashboard lettering, fitted the shiftlight I made (just in front of the speedo), made an exhaust manifold heat shield, spare wheel tie down strap, tidied up wiring, etc etc etc etc etc

Anyway, it's now ready for an MOT, then I'm going to swap the ATB diff for a plated diff (anyone want the ATB? good for tarmac!), swap the camshafts, get it re-mapped and then sort the spring lengths and rates.
