So I picked up a 1999 1.7 16V today to create a track day toy. It has cosmetic problems but it was cheap and the engine runs like a dream despite its 144000 miles. I was actually surprised how well it drives so I'm a happy bunny.
It failed the MOT last week on rear brake shoes being nadgered, a couple of ball joints, rear wheel bearings and a bulb. I reckon less than £100 would see an MOT on it, but the plan is to upgrade some stuff instead of replace with standard. I reckon the MK1 focus rear disc upgrade is in order as this will take care of the wheel bearings and brake shoes in one fell swoop. I've already spotted all the bits needed for £175 delivered, is this a good/bad/indifferent price?
I also plan on the Mondeo 300mm disc upgrade at the front.
I suspect this will take quite a while to finish as a project, partly due to time and partly due to cash, so the usual excuses!
Anyhoo, enough waffle, have some pictures of the patient. Apologies for the PP photography, there isn't much room in the garage at the moment with both the Puma and the trailer in there!
How long since you saw a rear arch this clean?
Managed to partially rip the bumper off getting it off the trailer.
