I have once had an exhaust fitted by Kwik Fit about 14 years ago and I went to the pub for a game of pool. On the way back to the kwik fit yard my friend sais "thats like yours" and there was my pride and joy being razzed along by some tosser with the window down and my expensive stereo blaring.

When challenged they said "just checking it was all working sir"

I had to take it back a few days later to get the vibration fixed. The fix involved a large hammer and a metal bar.

My friend recently got her car serviced there without telling me and they almost killed her car with ineptitude. Her neighbour also got a courtesy visit from the area manager after paying for 4 michelins and getting 1 michelin and 3 cheapies fitted.

Shower of pants the lot of them.

If you are down on power it might be the alternator, i guess once it os replaced you will know and can go from there. :)

 no way!! i bet u were well pee'd off with them. cheeky gets!! Mind you the way you put it just made me laugh my ass off tho "there was my pride and joy being razzed along by some tosser with the window down and my expensive stereo blaring." its not funny what they did, just funny the way you said it  seriously tho, i think i might give kwikfit a kwikswerve from now on!! Ye will see what happens once the new alternator is fitted and then take it from there

My gut feeling is that a new alternator will fix the problems. I once had a single wire corroded (or something) in an alternator on an escort I had, that would randomly lose power to the point it would just die while I was driving! It also wasn't charging the battery, so that was causing other problems too.

Thanks Cherie, I do hope your gut feeling is right  fingers crossed eh

As yippeekiay says:
Milltek website:
Q. Is my exhaust system covered by a guarantee or warranty?
A. As long as you are the original purchaser, cat-back exhaust systems are covered by a lifetime anti-corrosion and manufacturing defect warranty and hi-flow sports catalysts and downpipes are covered by a 2 year or 80,000km warranty. We do not cover against any modifications made to our product after it has left our factory and also not for unusual use of the parts - for example, the use of Nitrous Oxide (NOS), damage caused by going over a speed bump too fast etc. Our warranties are offered on the understanding that the cars power maybe increased by up to 33% from it's original specification. Modifications made to increase the power beyond this will render the warranty void.

Thanks for the welcomes :) x YOG dont think i'll be going down that route with exhaust then lol, it seems kinda unfair for the guarentee to be non transferable seeing as they're supposedly guarenteeing the quality of their product and workmenship, shouldn't really matter who owns it, but i guess thats the way things work. never mind eh lol....

Well i got my new alternator fitted and fingers crossed it seems loads better  more power etc and the speedo is back on  the mechanic also said he's ordered me a couple of these clip things to sort out something to make the window slide up properly and stop rattling, and said he wont charge me for that. So that will get rid of the annoying noise, and hopefully any other little niggles can be done as and when.
I just feel so ripped off that someone would sell the car with so many things wrong or on the way out, especially for the price i paid in the first place, mind you i shouldn't have just assumed that everyone is that honest, i really feel like saying something to her about all the crap i've had to have done to put it right as a result. I know that wouldn't make any difference whatsoever and really its my own stupid fault, but i kinda want her to know that i feel let down, if that makes any sense? lol. Its all just a matter of morals and standards, but she'll not give a stuff about it because i'm just nobody to her. Anyway, I'm starting to ramble on again so i'll leave my whinging there lol. Hope you're all havin a good un

Well you've nothing to lose (provided feedback has been left already) so why not write a very polite letter explaining how you feel and see what happens? I don't suppose getting any money back is likely but worth a try?

I had my car out today and remembered to try fourth to second and it was just like any other gear change so something is slightly strange with yours.
