new HCV installed and after a bit, well actually rather a lot of bleeding its started working! Now the engine is all back up and running I need to finish sorting the suspension.

First up I need to:

  • Replace the ARB bushes,
    Fit the new lowering springs,
    Replace the rear struts,
I also have the new drop links ready to go on.

I am also in the process of refitting my resprayed body mouldings and replacing the fuel/brake line clips.

thank you kndly sir rob! things gone a little quite on tje project at the moment but planning to get a few bits done over the summer. caise of money reasons wont be running her again until next summer though.

had the old girl up and running again and drives as great as I remember. next up are the new 40mm lowering springs and some new subframe and lower wishbone bolts. lastly a new handbrake cable then she should be all good for mot! and Snetterton here we come! :)

Woo! Yay! Good to see you're still pottering about, Rich - was about to give you a nudge!

Still about, doing odd bits on car just never get around to updating on here

Ordered 2 lots of these just to find out that the front wishbone bolt is not long enough:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Puma-wishbone-fixing-bolts-set-of-3-/290530775992?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3APuma&hash=item43a4fbd3b8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So I have fitted the rear ones and the wishbone to hub pinch bolts and will be ordering front ones from ford, just as soon as I have gotten my backside round to picking up the £100 roof strips.

On another note, never remove the roof strips unless you have to, they are a pig to put back on. I tried everything to refit the old ones but they got bent up when I removed them. Even tried 3M industrial mounting gel tape but nothing worked :-( I'm just hoping the new ones come with adhesive strips already on!

Just wanted to comment that if you get genuine Ford oem wishbones from Fordpartsuk iirc you also get the nuts and bolts with the exception of one nut iirc that is supposed to be captive (but over the years may have become uncaptivated),seperately the nuts and bolts for both sides come to about £20 iirc

Wishbone bolts from Ford don't come with the nuts, they have to be bought seperately.
The pinch bolts do come with nuts.

Just ordered:

  • new rear shocks,
    new wishbones,
    40mm lowering springs,
    tail light (passenger),
    horn,
    handbrake cable (rear)
Will be fitting over weekend, post some pics up early next week

Then I fixed an oil leak from when the garage changed the brake lines, used PTFE....

Forgive me for pointing this out, but PTFE tape can react with brake fluid, if its leaking from the union threads its because the flare hasn't nipped up properly, could be the flare itself wasn't formed well or just need a bit more of crush when tightening. I had to do a similar repair to my ZS for the last MOT and had issues getting the flare perfect with my flaring tool and first attempt found it leaking under pressure, had to cut and re-form it, no issues then, but the threads do not do any sealing so if it did leak, something wasn't done right and I would take it back to the garage if your unsure.

Replaced the heater control blend cable, as was bust and dial was just spinning round. when I fitted correctly in the notches, the heater was blowing in the wrong position according to the dial. I got around this by removing the notch and aligning the dial manually with the cable....
