Although one of those flag things would be good? Your turn to buy... Lol

My progress on my car will probably go much the same way as yours..

Mine seems to have escaped the rust.

I plan on getting a pair of Rainsport 3's for the from - Camskill are incredible prices..

Then the basic service items.. plugs, air, pollen and oil filters.. oil change for Ford Formula F, a set of Pagid front pads and discs..

Should see change from £200 there I'd have thought.

Tickled with the front lights today:

Was full of little scratches and pits from 13 years on the road:

After some 400, 800, 2000 grit rubbing, compounding and polishing its not perfect, but much better:

Struggled to get the coating off with even the 600 in places so thought bollocks to it..lol Built back up through various grades in the stubborn areas to 2000.

Not sealed them yet - probably just slap some collinite 476 on them or something.

Looks great! I'll probably have a go, still got the wetsand from the rear fogs.

Must be running well as the tank before last I could have easily cracked 400 miles and the very last one I could of too with over 48mpg recorded! That's just pootling back and forward to work down various A and B roads; no dual carriageways or motorways!

:eek:k:

Slight update:

Went to Ford Fair and it looked fab :)

(stolen Amanda's photo lol)

Machine polished (Menzerna) and Auto Glym HD wax, Gtechniq trim, megs tyre gel amongst other products.

Then went to Glasgow the next day and overnight on the 4th and this happened:

Had a good look at it now and it's down to the metal in places so no amount of machine polishing will do the trick. I've some local bodyshops recommended now so will be getting quotes.

Then on the way back from Scotland to Northants I took it steady doing 65-70mph all the way home and got 50.5mpg so it's still running fine at least. Running the tank down (42 litres) could have got us 460 miles apparently!

That's really frustrating, I know exactly how you feel. School kids on their summer holidays and out late set upon my Puma and 5 other cars in the same street.

Yes unfortunately the rear 1/4 panel will have to be repainted. From the photo,Is there scratches now on the edge of the nearside door also?

Puma is going to a local bodyshop at the end of this week to have the whole near side resprayed: front wing, door, door surround top and bottom and rear wing. Shouldn't be any trouble shade matching then as it'll all be done. The front and rear bumper are at different enough angles to the side that any colour mismatch should be minimal. Not cheap but then that front wing bugged me anyway being odd.

Back from the bodyshop now and it's all one colour as well as the scratch has gone.

Before:

(Note the front wing is a different shade)

After:
(Not the best light though unfortunately)

Going back to the bodyshop soon to have the lacquer flattened out a bit and polished now it's hardened off after a week in the garage.

Looks fab, but shame it ever had to be done in the first place :fists:
