Hi all,

Just a quick question about timing belts. When I bought my car it had just over 100K Miles on the clock. It recently had an MOT and passed, so does this mean that the Timing (Cam) belt will be OK.

I remember reading somewhere that about 100K should be the changing point for the belt.

But if there was something wrong with it, would it have been spotted in the MOT?

Cheers

It's not part of the MOT.
You can't see it without taking the covers off.
Change is 5 years/80,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The timing belt has nothing to do with the MOT.

The intervals for change for the 1.7 are 80,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes 1st.

If you don't know when it was done - get it done to be on the safe side IMO.

Thanks for the info guys

Well get it done ASAP!

Mark.
