Had mine up on stands once with the engine running and the abs was going crazy, I think it was the traction control trying to keep the wheels the same speed.

Well...after doing the ABS sensor then pads and discs(only done one for now as the caliper carrier bolts on the other side were rounding off, a job for another day...) wheels back on, took literally 0.2 miles around the entry way...the T/C and ABS lights went out.. Success!!!

Very happy with this

It is!! Especially as I'd never done one before!

That disc still needs doing the other side, but it gonna need to buy some replacement bolts for the carrier from Ford, think the last ones were about £1.14, then buy a wire brush attachment for my drill to clean the calipers up, far to dirty for my liking haha!

Nothing really to report really, just done the other brake disc, again needed to remove totally rounded bolts off the caliper carrier and replace with genuine ford ones...much better :)

Done a quick wash on the car today, using Autoglym car shampoo...the 1st since I've had the car

So I have a little bit of a 'work-to-do' list,

1st is obviously the wing mirror which I've notice is totally knackered

I've taped it on for now, just so I can use it to reverse in and out the garage.

Slam panel, slight rust, nothing to bad I don't think, maybe just a rub down, rust killer, prime and repaint, any other ideas from anyone, gladly taken.

N/S/F wing, maybe bloody good t-cut, not through to metal,

A previous bad repair with touch-up by looks of things, this is on the N/S/R quarter. Least it's painted.

Spare wheel carrier...seen better days, but might scrub up well after a rub down and re-priming and painting

I've also cleaned the throttle body, and the MAF sensor with carb cleaner, seems a lot more responsive. There is a slight noise, a clicking noise, sounds like it's coming from the left hand side of the engine, only clicks every few seconds or so, can't find a way of putting a video up on here..tried photobucket but it won't work.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure about the other stuff but the NSF wing might be a touch up job, that looks like it's through to primer. I steer clear of TCut when I can, but then I've got a dual action polisher to play with. ;-)

I'm looking into getting a D/A, never used one before, so all it's all experience. I've never painted a panel before either lol, so will be looking for as much advice as possible, and as much research as I can do.

Really enjoying this car, so much, think my missus has her eye on it now, her is 4yr older but 20k miles less

Excellent!! Will try get that video up...just to confirm like, my wife's doesn't do it ya see, but her HCV is different, she has the older, more prone to fail type..

Soft clay like the Meguiars stuff you can buy in Hellfrauds is quite easy to use. Personally I clay as infrequently as possible as it is very possible to introduce new marring if you make a mistake. So on my main car I clay twice a year tops, once for the 'works' so polishing. Once for stripping back and deep cleaning. I would say it's best done under cover. Now I'd also chemically decontaminate (iron-x or similar and tar remover) before claying to give it less to do and minimise the risk of marring. - no matter what people claim, it IS abrasive.

Thanks for that, think I'm going to give clay a go on this, as it'll probably be worth it, saying that it's not as bad as it could(should??) be...I've known cars with a less smooth finish after washing and polishing than this.

I've been shopping about online and managed to get myself a bonnet and bumper off a 2001 Puma Black, for £40!! Off a girl from Glastonbury, she used a 'black' for a Puma conversion into a Fiesta Zetec S, she's done a great job, I initially only wanted the bumper as I thought it'd be a better condition, but on closer examination when I got it home, not so much, ...Bonnet, on the other hand, is better condition than the one on the car, so will be replaced at some point, then maybe tart up the old one and sell. Unsure as yet.

I've got Mondays off from now on, so that'll be my 'working on the car' day. If weather is nice tomorrow, I might have a go at t-cutting a panel, see how it comes up, I've got no clay as yet.

I also attempted to remove the engine cover, as eventually it'll be getting a full service, managed to get most of the bolts out...apart from 2 stubborn little bastards, they've rounded off, and a larger Allen key won't fit, even after hammering lol...out comes the drill i think!!

They're very soft. Torx didn't work on mine so I dremelled a slot and used a big flat screwdriver bit on a ratchet held down. A gentle tap on top may help...
