I seem to remember hearing the turning circle was awefull on the RS200, dont know how true it is. Not really a car youd try parking in a supermarket car park though I guess

like all race cars they need to be warm before you put your foot down ! 6R4 was worse ,that had to tick over in gear on axle stands before you ran it,just could not change gear, till they found a new oil !!

Just the thing to get the takeout home warm though ! No boot to talk about for shopping !

But you cant see through the body like you can in a Stratos either !

Seems the development of the engine was originally for the escort rs programme that got canned ...
Isn't the BDT a BDA derivative - which is based on the corssflow block but is alloy?

You mean the RS1700T I think , not realy an Escort a such just sort of ! lol. Most ended up in South Africa with Mick Jones I think.

A derivative of the same engine family . BDA/BDG/BDT many specs for each though !!
Started as a 1.6 in the Escort Mk 1 RS1600,then 1800 in MK2 . Has been built as low as 1300 cc I think.'Works' cars were perhaps  up to 2200 !!!!!

Guess not as bad as F1 engines which need the oil heated up before the engine can be turned over such are the tolerences ..... great cars were developed for group B but I can understand why they had to ban the cars after the terrible accidents all before my time lol

Now dont go getting me cross !!!

Group B cars ( and Group S that were just being developed !!) were no more dangerous than Group A cars ! Indeed most group A cars with better suspension/tyres/engines etc etc are FASTER than the old group B,s. Hit a rock like Henri T or some of the other accidents at the same speeds in a Grp A car and the result would be just the same I think !

Only thing that was 'perhaps' a bit silly was alloy roll cages !!!

Agree it is a shame also because it did also stimulate a series of innovations which Motorsport does .....when the Group B cars were around the pace of innovation was very rapid because of competition from various manufacturers ........
