New owner 1.7 MOT failed project

thanks, i'm sure there'll be quite a few more problems once i get started. I've literally fully kitted out my garage just for this car, wanted one for ages and i'm determined to restore it to a great state

    F*** cars. Really

i've never understood how insurance is worked out, 2 years ago i had a quote for a jaguar x-type 2.2D and it came up at £1,500. i also got a quote for a 1.6L Vauxhall Astra which was £1,875 from the same company. Yet my car at the time, an Audi TT 1.8T modified from 225bhp to 310bhp came in at...

Ok so where to start.. 1.7L 1999 (T reg) 68k miles, engine seems ok, little bit of blow from the exhaust judging from the subs and speaker kits that were fitted im guessing it was a boy racers car and has probably been trashed. No MOT so couldnt properly test the gearbox on the road. rear...

    help

as a general rule its not a good idea to remove breathers fully, however on a couple of cars i've seen, fuel breather valves have been used to replace the piping, so they only protrude about 10mm

is there such a thing as a front diff for the type 9?

i've found 2 sierra front units, think i'll pick both of them up, one looks in really bad shape though, wondering if the bottom plate went through.

is there such a thing as a front diff for the type 9?

is there such a thing as a front diff for the type 9?

The Zetec is going to be tuned to produce around 250bhp, and the vehicle is going to take a lot of off road battering, Currently in the workshop i have a Type 9 with H/D bearings and another the same but with close ratio setup. With the suspension setup capable of 40cm of travel, both the diffs...

is there such a thing as a front diff for the type 9?

I've started a new project and have come across a snag. The plan is a 2 Litre zetec engine with a Type 9 gearbox, laterally mounted in the chassis. Propshaft (Sierra 7") feeding a rear Sierra 7" Diff with LSD (3:6 ratio). The problem is i also need a Diff for the front running at 3:6 with the...

    Shell V-Power Nitro+

on my other car you can tell the difference between 95 and 99, but it takes a tank and a half for the ECU to recognise the difference

    Warning light problems

i'm hoping the insurance will be fine with what i'm doing. just ordered a set of wilwood calipers, and 2 master cylinders, aswell as piping to remake the full dual circuit. I was liiking into making a hub for the rear to fit calipers to the back, but think it'll be a lot of work. Does anyone...

engine turns over but wont fire

i know these aren't cheap, you can probably get them a lot cheaper, but i use them all the time on major components because if i do anything wrong or short a circuit etc, they cut out, then auto reset. Proved to be very useful when i had a car with glitchy wiring that would suddenly stop...
